Ingame it is possible to "show info" on other mercs and see their accountnames, displayed as "Online Id" folled by the name.
In CCP's other game EVE Online this is considered a breach of the EULA, despite not being able to retrieve any usefully information by having another player's accountname. Here in DUST 514, on the other hand, knowing another players accountname DOES make a difference, it essentially makes finding spies way too easy aswell as it enables atrocities to spill over into other games(you know there are gamers of other games out there who doesn't take their game seriously? Shocking, I know!) since that name is connected to your PSN account.
What do you guys/gals think? |

I view it as more along the lines that Sony allows you to view it in EVERY other PSN game where your PSN id IS your screen name. its more or less just showing you their account name if you want to add them as a friend to maybe play other games.
If you really really want to spy you can make another FREE PSN account and do it that way... and while your at it get passive sp. |

When the game is in full release with trophy support, it will also interact with the "Players Met" list on the XMB. * beta games don't update the "Players Met" list.
So, if the PSN IDs are being shown by the XMB, there is no reason to try and hide them in-game. |

PSN ID is your "character" name. Your account name is your email address. |

PSN ID is your "character" name. Your account name is your email address. Actually it is your PS3 profile. It is not against EULA to have multiple profiles on your PS3, except once they locked down your PS3 you are now limited to 3 or 4 max per PS3. When the PS3 was an open system you could have 100s of profiles on your PS3. |

lol eve nerds complaining that you can see the PSN account name. Dude in every other game for the PS3 you can see the PSN name. This is aswell used to add friends on PSN, send mails and other stuff. Sure it might would have beeing against the EULA on a PC game where you actually use that account name to log in but on PSN you use a email+password to log in which is different from your displayed PSN name. So no its not against the EULA cause no vital information has beeing passed on. If you want to play some paranoid spy games then create a different PSN account, create a new dust char and you are set. And to make it even better you get aswell passive SP on that fresh made PSN account+ Dust char. What is true is that you can only get passive SP on one PSN account but how i know CCP i bet that they gonna introduce a AUR option where it lets you assign passive SP on multiple accounts. |
