Sorry to ruin you exploiter types day but it's time.. People have discovered that the wall directly across from objective consoles is hollow and have been throwing remote explosives in there. Even the wise, checking for R/E types are getting blown up these days. I apologize to the person I killed testing to make sure they were doing proper damage. It was just the once I swear. This is on all maps.

Now that I've made this public... please CCP with all due haste, pass this on to your mapping people.

That explains why I keep getting blown up by invisible R/E's. I make sure I look all over the objective before hacking, but there it goes, I'm dead two seconds later by an R/E.

My buddies said that people keep putting them outside the objective, but I check there, too. Yet, I still get blown up.

Yep it explains it.... The only safe way to hack most objectives (without wasting a ton of time and ammo etc) at the moment is throwing a grenade first... as long as you're not carrying AV grenades,,, in which case you're out of luck and playing Russian Roulette.

Been throwing grenades in nearly forever as the other option is to toss it just this side of the wall which can be difficult to see depending on the light or lack there of.

Drop a hive and give a toss. Before you are done with the hack your grenades are back and so is your ammo with +100 waiting a few minutes away.

Been trying to find a way to really hide RE for nine months now but AFAIK there's no way to make them disappear.
They always bounce from 3D model of structure.
Sure, they can be hard to find, but still findable.

Well, I don't say there's no way on earth, but it's likely there's no invisible RE's.

 There's no truly invisible REs.

There are places where they "clip" inside objects and only the tiniest part of the explosive is visible, but even then, they CAN be found.

Part of the problem is that you need someone looking at the RE for a good few seconds before it's lit up and revealed, or you need to stay well within scan range for san amount of time determined by your suit's Scan Precision. Scouts are the best hunters of explosives, and I hope Active Scanners will help to light them up for other suits.

That doesn't mean there doesn't need to be a fix, because some placements can make the REs far less visible than they should be.

You are never going to put a explosive above ground i think ccp should make it so all explosives go underground but there should implement a new tech to see explosives

I am currently in a game I joined where everything is blue and I ain't got a thing to do, there are 10 or so redline snipers etc etc, you know the drill. I strolled around the battlefield and checked out all 3 objectives... sure enough there are 3 COMPLETELY INVISIBLE R/E's on each objective. Each time someone uses this exploit another 15 figure out how to do it..... skirmish is now completely broken.

Sorry Garrett, but you're flat out wrong. Feel free to send me an invite and I will show you.

oh wow, i always check for RE but recently ive been caught out quite alot, this explains it.

maybe we can get an indicator for RE like nades, but some how fainter, so if people are looking for then they find them but if people dont check and run in they still go boom

I put together a really quick video here --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMl8MEERA9g&feature=youtu.be

I don't have a proper capture card and when I jumped into this battle my team was getting redlined and whupped. So time and quality may be issues as I had to sneak in behind enemy lines find some REs, blow them up etc. I think it shows the difficulty in the ridding of hidden explosives and how easy they are to place so that nobody can see them.

If another video showcasing proper explosions, kills and deaths is needed I can take the time to put it together later but again, I think the quick one I just did, already covers the location and issue.

The youtube account was created for this one video alone so please do not respond on it as it will be deleted soon.

This particular bug has nothing to do with scanning. It has been around since Replication: Deployable gear sometimes just disappears for no good reason, even on your own team.

Since Remote Explosives are deployable gear, they sporadically disappear entirely from sight. It's really one of the most frustrating things to have disappear on you, but uplinks and your own team's nanohives come in a close second.

Several items have decided to come and go from being displayed consistently since Chromosome was released. Or sometime afterwards, I don't remember anymore. All forms of Hives, uplinks and explosives perform this trick. Whether that is intentional or not has not be clarified.

But, tossing an RE and hiding it is not an exploit. You can do it, it doesn't always work and the RE may or may not be shown in either the mini-map or the display for either Reds nor Blues.

Which means you should shoot into the area to blow it up. Tossing a grenade works as well.

Don't forget to toss deploy-able items on flat surfaces as they will disappear.

Later they will explode instead of just fading away but this feature is not yet implemented.
