So I've come back to get some free stuff (:P) and while the loading times are better than in previous versions, it is still very annoying.
I know some people like Captain's Quarters and the whole Walking In Stations fluff. That's why I just want an option to disable them for people like me. My play experience is basically: Load into game. Press L1, select battle, wait. It loads into a waiting station, I wait until the timer reaches zero, then I wait for the third map to load before finally fighting. This whole process is repeated for every battle I want to play.
I know the timer before battle start is needed and I know there is a need to be able to purchase dropsuits, skills and stuff, but I do all of that through L1 without moving my character at all.
TL;DR Can we please get an option that makes the station a black background with menus/timers only? It would greatly speed up the process of fighting battle after battle as I would not have to load two useless locations every time I exit battle and enter battle queue. |

This sounds like the beginning of the Burn Jita event.

No it's not. I appreciate the work devs put into making the CQ and waiting bay, but to me they are useless fluff that get between me and the game. It's an extra minute every time I exit and enter battle and serves no purpose since I do everything from menu screens and not by walking around.
Sorry devs, but your pretty visuals make me wait and I already saw them and won't ever feel the need to walk around the station as long as L1 works faster. Give me an option to save my time. |

Something minimalist like this would be nice. The Merc Quarters is nice and all but I would like an option to disable it to make things load faster. |

They spent alot of time with their Incarna stuff, they couldn't force it onto EVE because they rioted. I'm pretty sure we aren't going to have a choice.
I actually like it though, just wish it was more interactive and had more cool features. Right now you are correct that its just a 3D neocom.

I'm not really against it because it is bad or anything. I just don't want it because it forces me to wait for a long (IMO) time every battle and offers nothing in return. If it loaded in 2 seconds I wouldn't mind, but it takes longer and it bothers me that all this time I have to spend staring at a loading screen is because the game loads a map that I do not want and will not use. |

I'm fairly sure thats why Incarna failed. Why force people to use something they don't want to. In EVE they have the quarters, but I still love spinning my ship so I never use it. I might peek in occassionally to look at my ship, but thats about it.
If you want a feature to be used then you need to encourage people to want to use it. I would like the merc quarters had a VR training room, you could pick up a rifle and practice while you wait for corp mates, if it had a driving course. if I could use the TV, if I could personalize it, if it saved me time loading the game lobby, like if the outer door to my room opened and suddenly I am in that public room, and if I could explore other people's customized rooms.
If there was another door that went to your corp lobby where I could VR and drive with corps and follow corp squads into matches so we can have whole teams of corp mates rather then just 1 squad.
if there was a local door I could walk through and have proximity voice chat with others there and join a squad just by standing next to them and following them through a game door.
Sigh.. ok, see, there are alot of ways the merc quarters could... not suck... |

All are very good ideas, but... Well, they are not likely going to speed up the loading. Maybe the hangar next door, yes, That I also considered. |

I don't like this idea at all. If you want fast loading times and getting in a match quickly go play call of duty.
That stuff is there to make it more realistic and fun. Who cares if you have to wait a whole minute. It's not like it's five or 10 minutes.
It shouldn't be a big deal to wait. |

It's really nice you don't value your time at all, but my free time is limited and I prefer to spend it playing and not staring at a loading screen for no reason at all other than to show me a pretty interior which I already know by heart and have no interest in seeing again. |
