I just don't see a real player dropping that much cash for anything other than laughs. I only use top gear on my vehicles, and atm, my LAV survives the most per isk spent (since they nerfed my ds's active fuel injector). she costs me 415k every time she pops.
And what does that KAV do for your team other than remove one gun from the fight? |

With driver/gunner, we are a mobile turret and support role and light AV platform. We have taken down tanks and dropships with a single proto blaster. With all 3 seats full, we can respond to any contested objective faster than most and with significant firepower.
typically we will take the first 2-5 (depending on the weather)minutes of a match taking out problem turrets. by this time the enemy team typically has the lead. More often than not, we reclaim the match once we re tool our efforts with the LAV.

I too have the fabled LAV tank. It is a Saga with 2694 Shield and 722 Armor. It costs 200,000 ISK, but that doesn't matter because I usually don't die when I'm in it. |

I will leave it to you guys to figure out what I used to get to that. :) This sounds a lot like my LAV. I have a Methana with around 4000 HP and a Carapace Hardener. I will be able to survive 5 swarms when I unlock the Limbus.
Small Blasters are my weapon of choice. I call in an LAV almost every game and a lot of my kills come from my blaster. I do have to change seat to shoot but that's just a small annoyance. |

If people start shooting at you (Swarms or Forges), move :) Works a LOT better than trying to tank it, from my experience

Breach Forge?
That thing takes atleast half my 5.5k Shield HAV's health, not to mention if it had stacked damage mods. |

I will leave it to you guys to figure out what I used to get to that. :) Limbus with alot of armor plates, passive 15% resistance. Then you use a dropsuit with a decent repair tool to repair it when needed. I know it cause i used it on the E3 build and codex. It could aswell take a direct hit from a sagaris railgun and run off. Against swarms i would say you would have used the charybdis with 2-3 shield extenders and a 15% pasive resistance. In the low slot eventually PG upgrades. And the turret is only for display cause both vehicles gain HP bonus but loose 50% damage output. |

Not the best possible fit, on the Methana (not going Limbus till CCP adds 4th low slot, returns the remote rep, and increases CPU/PG values) I have 900 shields with 14% shield recharge, 2490 Armor (not sure about the 90 part) and two 25% Armor hardeners. I only use this fit to track down a Slap level Railgun Sagaris in OMS Ambush.
The other fit I have gets a efficient armor rep in place of the plate to better handle proto forge guns. |

The real problem with LAVs is that they explode after a certain amount of time of not being in them. I'm not going to drop 40000 ISK fitting a car out only for it blow up because I'm too busy shooting people to get back in right away. If there was a way to return vehicles to the MCC instead of letting them waste away on the battlefield we might see more well fitted LAVs being used at certain points in the battle. At the moment calling one in always results in it being lost, and not everyone wants to just **** money away. |

I know. This also means if you call in a dropship, don't expect to get into a gunfight on the ground the entire match unless you want to lose your precious 150k ISK investment. While it's a reasonable measure to prevent people from abandoning their cars and such on the field and locking up slots so no one else can call stuff in, it would be nice if I could return my cars to the MCC instead of simply letting them explode. |

I've seen some of these LAV tanks in ambush matches. They are infinitely more annoying than tanks simply because they're so quick. They take one shot and then run off only to come back with full health looking for road kills. Killing one of those is a feat if the driver isn't a moron. |

First of all my LAV is 170k a pop and it's just a Methana, so unless you're missing a zero there it's really on the cheap.
Second -- park it near supply depo if you want to leave it, but somebody will grab it and run away before you even step out. So freebie works best for taxi, just watch out for those proximity candies. |

That's what I learned after constantly working with LAVs, until I eventually got a logi LAV. Did I mention that logi LAVs are barely an improvement over standard? That is, for a logistical role. |
