Would be pretty awesome if a suit came with a pair of wings or future technology, flying equipment such as a high tech jet pack or something built into the suit. |

Present DUST maps are poorly designed for vertical infantry combat. It would render terrain considerations entirely redundant, in which case we might as well just be fighting inside a characterless cube with our jetpacks. |

I understand what you are geting at there isnt much on the map just a few buildings bunch of hills and alot of wide open terrain and the maps are prolly too small for it anyways |

Ya like jumping out of a MCC or dropship or even a tall enough building and activate flight mode or something like that, tho i see it being hard to get back up their with out something to fly you up there or having to die. I havent checked but if theres militia dropships then there would be no problem. |

A jetpack suit would be awesome with the right balancing: http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/036/0/6/killzone_3_jetpack_soldier_by_tactican-d38wk87.jpg
-Low amount of module slots -No equipment -Only a sidearm slot -Have jetpack functions work like an equipment, you have to switch to it, meaning you can't hold a gun while flying |

Jet packs are a horrible idea simply from a balance perspective. Warhawk for PS3 release was an amazing shooter that lasted with an active community for years. In the third expansion they brought in jetpacks and it ruined the infantry game. Until that point they had infantry with low speed and 8 weapon options, tank and jeep with high speed and fixed weapons, and the warhawk which obviously had air dominance. A lucky tank could shoot down a bird, but mostly it was anti-infantry, quick and devestating. They way to take down a tank was Zerg it, or use a bird. To take down a bird you used another bird or littered the sky with missiles. Foot soldiers had so many weapon options that a good one could take down whatever he wanted, provided he was quick and smart.
jetpacks offered too much mobility for foot soldiers. One map was an archipelago, and required warhawk support to get to capture points. Warhawks can be locked onto with missiles, so the trip was dangerous. Foot soldiers had a much smaller profile, can't be locked onto, and can now fly themselves. This was to say nothing of other map designs (long winding mountain roads, city streets, etc) that used to be choke points. Now everyone was just descending from all directions.
Foot soldiers can also carry missile launchers themselves and lock onto tanks and hawks. Hawks were still fast enough to break lock with training, but tanks were actually completely trumped. They had no way to fight back against even one bouncing flying foot soldier, who always had versatility over tanks, but now had mobility and evasion over them too. Hawks couldn't fight back against the super small super deadly hanging object, except by crashing into them for a run over kill. (By the way it was so hard to pull off they offered a trophy for lining up that shot)
Now think of balance in dust. How will you defend an objective if people can come at you from literally any direction except below? How will tanks fend off skittering flying soldiers with swarm missiles that latch onto them, while they try to blaster bolt large patterns in the sky? How will snipers line up shots on people moving in an extra plane? Jetpacks tacked on willy hilly will turn the game into a cover free, explosion heavy, meat grinder. Whole other trees of skills will become worthless given the new kamikaze style of warfare.
Edit: to those of you saying "just a sidearm" or "less equip slots" ect... What exactly does a player like that offer to your team? Why would you want someone to advertise their location in the air and not be able to shoot back or accomplish anything? Might as well be a screaming neon scout, unless the objective of the jetpack is to get the enemy distracted while you do all the real work yourself. What role would such a suit play in the field? Really truly think about what you want AS A ROLE first, then ask if the jetpack is the best way to achieve that role without destroying the rest of the game. |

My main experience with jetpacks comes from Halo.
In that game, if you fly high, you're dead. Cover disappears and enemies can shoot you from all directions. High enough, and literally every enemy not inside a building can shoot you. Even on Halo, which has a max team size of eight-ish, you die pretty quickly.
Dust has a team size of 16 (or 24 if they've updated it) and its maps are a lot more open than Halo's. If you tried flying anything other than burst building-to-building Killzone style, you would die.
That said, they'd also completely nullify dropships. Dropships are only able to survive because buildings block line of sight from rockets. If infantry could stand on top of those buildings, I doubt a dropship would be able to survive long enough to be worth the cost... minus the Militia one. |

I'll up you with Killzone 3.
Apart from that, i think jetpacks would result in a sudden burst in Snipers. as said before. Skeet. There are some terrains that can't be accessed (mostly due to whining), so jetpacks might actually open them up again. Might be interesting. . . |

I would actually like if the scout suit had armpit wings to dampen falls. Maybe take 1/2 the damage per unit height that the Assault suit would take for the same distance? I just hate running my scout up stairs and ladders for a vantage, then losing 75% of my shields to jump off a ledge and chase a delicious delicious victim. |

Jump jet would be good cause i tend to get stuck between rocks and cracks and once i get out it says i fell and died when all i did was squeeze myself out. |

Could just avoid forward thrust and go for straight up to traverse tall buildings in a single bound, if you keep them frail, then the value of dropships will still be their while making it no more than a scaling module for height advantages assuming they'd make it above before a sniper gets them. I'd just make it a module effected by suit weight and give it some kind of handicapping pg/cpu requirement. |

The makes of dust should look at the game SW:Battlefront 2. Which has Jumpjets and Jet packs. They are suprisingly well balanced. Very fun to play with but quite hard since they die fast as hell. I would love to see Jumpjets or jetpacks in the game, maybe even some sort of vehicle/armor like u see in the Killzone 3 picture. You actually call it in, skills modules etc. Anyway id love to see this in Dust with the right balancing ofcourse. |

Yes. Dangerous to fit on any suit - especially a Scout - without also adding the "fast-charge Inertia Dampener" allowing you to avoid damage caused by falling from your upgraded jump height. |
