I think I'm going to go make an alt because after my weekly grind towards my ISK proto assault suits (1 more week! Kitten Yeah!) I find myself bored of Dust and my scout alt isn't helping.
I believe I'll tank my logi so that it can provide more support to teammates while not dying or when rezzing someone with heavy enemy presence.
However, weapon-wise, I don't plan on getting many kills with this alt, just support.
So laser rifles or mass drivers?
Laser rifles- long-range support and can shield strip
-or-
mass drivers- provide area support/ diversion (yay for explosive smoke bombs) or finishing off armored enemies. |

Mass driver. The problem with the laser is that you can't use it effectively at short range, and most of your "surprise" combats are going to be short range. It sucks down the supplies though. |

BOTH!! at least I like to use both, lasers are good if you plan to hang back or hold a spot, but aren't so good when used aggressively or when moving through CQ areas, MD's on the other hand are the perfect support weapon, you screw up your enemies aim, your good for all distances except long range(unless you're very good or very lucky), and you can damage enemies behind cover. I personally run LR most the time and switch over to the MD on CQ maps or If I plan on playing aggressively . |

The only downside to MD's.......such low ammo capacity....... well at least logi's can carry lots of equipment. |

Assault Mass Driver? You get more ammo and if you aren't worried about getting kills you get a larger area of suppression. |

Since the Logistics class can only have one weapon I try to focus on survivability to maximize my effectiveness of helping my team by not dying. With that in mind I use the assault rifle. |

AR, if you choose MD you'll find yourself wasting too much time firing the grenades. LR is solo play, usually in rooftops, away from the crowd. Use something that is useful in emergency situations, because you'll be using the rep more than your gun. |

AR is a good choice. for the OP MD but i wouldn't suggest it if your not good at it, i mean really good at it. stick to something that can do both cqc and ranged combat which the AR is good at. shotguns are ok too. |

Flux grenade, and mass driver. You can flux and then send in your heavies or flux and solo pound with mass driver.
Swarm launcher. People forget swarm is light, if you want your squad to be prepared for anything swarm is gooe. Since you dont plan on shooting often it is really convenient to pop open some swarms on a tank or lav or dropship or turret.
Pistol for the minimalist. Say you are rocking proto rep too, injector, hives and uplinks. Do you have the cpu to equip a mass driver or Ar or any light weapon? You might want to go with scrambler pistol, reduced pg and cpu usage to leave room for those high end equips. |

Altina McAlterson wrote:Assault Mass Driver? You get more ammo and if you aren't worried about getting kills you get a larger area of suppression. This right here isthecorrect answer. I run pure light support logi assault mass driver of all meta levels is the ideal squad support weapon.
As noted here and above, you mitigate dmg by standing behind your front line or slightly flanking while still in contact w/ squad.
A assault md has the biggest clip, magazine and splash area of all mass drivers. Also fastest rate of fire. You won't rack up kills but your squad will and you will gain a ton of WP from assist. Your team survives better, kills better, and there you are ready with needle and repair tool when needed. .. And hives.

If it's between Laser and MD, I'd go MD.
But for me, it's SMG. Minimal cost restocking my own ammo from my nanohives, meaning more benefit to the team, and by the time I'm switching away from my Repair Tool, it's usually a CQC situation already, and I'm too good at making myself explode with MDs. |

Assault rifle, because its versatile.
Whats the point of having a needle and rep if you can't clear the bodies? unless your absolutely brilliant chances are you can't shoot the guy standing 80m away behind a railing with an MD, and if the person/s you need to clear are right next to you an LR is no good, the AR covers all ranges even if other weapons excel at them, none have the straight forward versatility.

Going to have to suggest the mass driver. It counters enemy logis(No rez, multiple targets being damage, keeps logi away from targets, destroys nanohives/spawns, ) and has its own support role built into the gun (Smoke screen, supression, impacts cause fire to be less accurate)
Oh and it does tons of damage... And is fairly effective against LAVs and when finishing off shield tanks. And you can hit people while behind cover. And when they are behind cover. Nobody likes to fight against an AR+MD or a HMG+MD. The best support you can give is tons of AOE damage that the enemy will be driven back by. You should be firing first and making the decision on if you should heal or reload when you have to reload.
Spec for speed and shields. People hate the sound and effect that your gun makes. They WILL kill you, given the opportunity. |

Bad idea to run a swarm as a logi full time no secondary so your screwed if you need to pop a red before you can rez someone |

And don't feed him that **** about the assault mass driver. Thing is inferior. It doesn't do enough damage. You need to get 3-4 direct impacts to solo anyone in 1 clip (And you will have to solo someone at some point, even in a support role). Wheras with a freedom you are looking at 4-5 hits and a direct impact for a decently tanked Assault and 2 direct impacts and 3-4 hits for a Heavy. I suppose you need 5-6 direct impacts to kill a heavy with an assault MD. Good luck with that.
Flux and AV are both good choices. They should both be present in your squad My level of hatred for this guy and his stupid freaking mass driver means you should do exactly what he says. Fiddle is pro with that thing so I would definitely take his advice. |

Layzer !!!!!!
No really, mass drivers are the best idea if your team isn't pure garbage, since stupid blue dots keep running in front of me - I use an AR or Laser. The laser takes you out of the hot spots, giving you less rep time and less rez's, but then CCP nerfed that system and I find myself having to do more killing since if you're picking that many people up, then they're not killing enough red dots. I think the place for a dedicated repper/medic is only in Corp matches. |

I run my isk farming alt with either standard beginner fit or sniper rifle. Sniper rifle allows me to get the most kills I can on a militia fit, which translates directly into isk per match.
My method for no risk isk farming in ambush is: 1) keep up a drop uplink in a spot where the natural spawn happens or where people want to spawn (WP for as many spawns as you can farm on an uplink) 2) inject fallen teammates as a priority, even if they are getting shot again, to get WP 3) stop to counter snipe or snipe on stationary newbies, as you'll quickly and reliably get the headshots and WP 4) stop to snipe if you see a shiny protosuit, try and take it down for isk |
