So I finally decided to give a second go at dropships in the last few days (first time didn't go so well) and I must say they are alot of fun to drive. The learning curve is quite steep however and very, very expensive. Anyways regardless of the fun of driving, I just wanted to share a few quick things I noticed first hand.
-I really think this should be a heavy class with all the armor thingys of a tank, they are far too weak for the price.
-Explosive paint!! oh my god, you barely scratch that thing and it blows up...
-Some form of payment to the driver should be made. I mean even if you equip a onboard spawn, you don't get a dime in sp...to me it makes no sense to put so much on the line and not get a single sp even though someone else might drop a 4k worth spawn pad and get paid up to 250...why?
-I think transporting people from point A to point B should be rewarding to the driver. Doesn't have to be much, but a little something you know? I understand that people would abuse it and get in and get out to boost their buddies but their could be a cap. Could be based on a timer per person or a minimum length of flight time travel onboard...Anything would be better than nothing.
In conclusion I really love this sort of ship but I find it very difficult to drive, very....explosive and not rewarding. I can see now why there are so few on the battlefield compared to hmm I don't know....tanks maybe?! |

[CCP] Blam says that dropships are reworked in the next build, with explosive paint addressed.
Lack of dropship rewards are an acknowledged error and work is being done to fix them. |

im all for this. I'm saddened by the lack of dropshippers, as it feels like it could be a great tactical advantage to have someone dropping soldiers behind enemy lines. Besides, I don't want to walk, I want ride in style. |

Lack of dropship rewards are an acknowledged error and work is being done to fix them. Hmm "reworked" eh... Now im really woried. This is eighter gonna help pilots or worsen it even more (they have a lil histroy for that). You know just the other day i was reading on of the posts (dont remember if it's in one of the dev blogs, and these werent even images from the next build but from the current ones and it in every single image (i sh!3t you not) had a dropship in the back ground. Now i dont now where they got from those but, there are so many pilots who are just fed up their ship geting shot like piggeons from the sky. Now i really do hope this will make dropships more better as in not too bad and require skills. Btw have any of you guys notice just how bad the small railguns are? i have em high and got the profhecincy to lvl2 and just lol. |

Another great feature would be that if someone spawns inside your vehicule before you get a chance to get in and takes off with it only to crash 11 seconds later...he pays the bill.
^^^^^^^^^^^that needs to happen lol. Imagine some noob spawns on it and the pilot is out reparing his/her ship and the noob just takes off and when he crashes, he/she gets a message that they need to pay up. Uh man that would be nice to be honest. You know it's intresting, theirs this one fourm that has all the great ideas about the dropships and not a single dev comments on it and tells what they are thinking about bringing in for future updates, Oh well. Btw like g,b,g,h.g said welcome to the club and Happy Flights. |

Kind of happy no one jumped in and @sshated Ioumanchew's post with "Use the search engine jerk."

I was on one super tanked DS that costs the guy over 600k isk. The only thing that could take it down was mass of other side next to a supply depot and more AA fire than the Battle of Britain. |

I wish we had a little feedback. They added the main DS thread to the weekly report. I wish they would come back to us with their proposals so we can feedback before any changes get implemented.
Te main issue is survivability. I couldn't care less about turrets or weapons. At the moment due to cheap powerful AV nades, pop out and shoot swarm and forge mechanics and super tracking swarms I cam drop off troops under fire. Drops ships are designed to drop forces in hot zones. I need the tank to do it.

Another issue that needs to be adressed is the ships that bring in other vehicules killing dropships. Today it happened to me not once, not twice, three freaking times. The first 2 times were accidents, a friendly called a jeep at the same time as my ship...didnt even have time to board it. half a million gone. Second time, same thing, the usual free jeep comes crashing on me while I am at a few feet from the ground so the dual pounding got me.
The third time....and this is important because I believe this is falling in the exploit category. We were completely dominating a match and redberries were hiding under buildings so I was hovering quite low so that my gunner could ''try'' to kill something and then a redberry came below me and at first I thought he was an idiot but a few seconds later I understood what he had just done... That's right, you can call in a free nuke by calling in the almighty free jeep on a gliding dropship as long as he doesn't realise what you are up to. That needs adressing IMO. |
