So I finally decided to give a second go at dropships in the last few days (first time didn't go so well) and I must say they are alot of fun to drive. The learning curve is quite steep however and very, very expensive. Anyways regardless of the fun of driving, I just wanted to share a few quick things I noticed first hand.
-I really think this should be a heavy class with all the armor thingys of a tank, they are far too weak for the price.
-Explosive paint!! oh my god, you barely scratch that thing and it blows up...
-Some form of payment to the driver should be made. I mean even if you equip a onboard spawn, you don't get a dime in sp...to me it makes no sense to put so much on the line and not get a single sp even though someone else might drop a 4k worth spawn pad and get paid up to 250...why?
-I think transporting people from point A to point B should be rewarding to the driver. Doesn't have to be much, but a little something you know? I understand that people would abuse it and get in and get out to boost their buddies but their could be a cap. Could be based on a timer per person or a minimum length of flight time travel onboard...Anything would be better than nothing.
In conclusion I really love this sort of ship but I find it very difficult to drive, very....explosive and not rewarding. I can see now why there are so few on the battlefield compared to hmm I don't know....tanks maybe?! |

Another issue that needs to be adressed is the ships that bring in other vehicules killing dropships. Today it happened to me not once, not twice, three freaking times. The first 2 times were accidents, a friendly called a jeep at the same time as my ship...didnt even have time to board it. half a million gone. Second time, same thing, the usual free jeep comes crashing on me while I am at a few feet from the ground so the dual pounding got me.
The third time....and this is important because I believe this is falling in the exploit category. We were completely dominating a match and redberries were hiding under buildings so I was hovering quite low so that my gunner could ''try'' to kill something and then a redberry came below me and at first I thought he was an idiot but a few seconds later I understood what he had just done... That's right, you can call in a free nuke by calling in the almighty free jeep on a gliding dropship as long as he doesn't realise what you are up to. That needs adressing IMO. |
