To all who complain about the scout fit needing a buff, STOP. It's VERY easy to buff these suits to take all of the AR, Shotty, and sniper rounds some random knob job can throw at you. It's called jumping into a HAV. You're welcome. |

I don't understand the scout complaints. I've been playing almost exclusively a scout for at least a month now, and I'm happy with the style of gameplay they allow possible. If people would stop treating them like assault suits, they wouldn't have a problem with them.
More or less what I mean- Sprinting at someone with a shotgun- for assaults Sneaking up to someone, killing them with a shotgun before they see you, and using your speed to retreat back to cover- for scouts |

Been using Scouts for ~ 8 months now, along with every other class. They need a major improvement. Like I said, anything a Scout can do, an Assault does better. Assault can sneak behind someone and shotgun them, then get away quick enough. He can also tank any damage that the person might throw at him as well. |

So in short scout is fine assuming you're using a shotgun or HAV or sitting almost a kilometer away with a sniper rifle? Oh wait nvm... the logistic suit gets more equipment to make that last one work better. |

You can really buff up a scoutsuit too. I only have the dragon fly but I've got my skills up to where I can fully deck that thing out. It's quite impressive. |

My scout laughs at them by using its superior scout combination of hiding with a low profile, moving between cover with default speed, and knowing as much about the logi snipers as possible with the superior scout scanning stats.
Unlike assaults, scouts already have some good stats by default. |

I'd like to know how profile dampening and scanning are currently useful for long range shoot outs. Outside 100 meters I'm just not seeing a point to them.
If you can get a good spot and an ammo supply relatively nearby you're golden. Hopefully it's got a good view of places enemies are trying to be, or else you're wasting time.
That scout speed for getting to cover is pretty mean though. |

I think some folks don't understand that the scout is not built for front line combat. How they don't get that when it has less armor than a layer of tin foil I can't explain.
Scout out places the enemy has vacated and go hack things. Pick off enemy snipers. Do some spotting. If you shoot well enough defend some letters. If you are looking for adrenaline get in the middle of the combat hot spots -- just don't complain if you die whenever someone looks at you funny. |

Srs-Wiz-Biz,
Scouts aren't too weak. People are just stupid. You can't shield tank. Stop trying to direct attack someone. Do a frickin' barrel roll! If you're going into the heat of battle make sure your fit isn't too pricey and that you are skillful at your weapon whether it's the commonplace Shotgun or the notoriously underused SMG because you'll want to take out any, and everybody who gets in your way faster than they can react.
Oh. So I'm going against a couple of assaults? Throw a grenade and flank them.
Heavy with an HMG walking into my base? Unload a clip into his or her, I don't discriminate, head as I strafe around them.
Logistics using a laser rifle? I bet that mofo can't react fast enough to me disappearing into the environment and then popping up right behind them! No cloak needed!
Oh a scout? That's the real trouble. If it's a SMG it'll be strictly about maneuvers. If it's a Shotgun, it's all about dodging until they leave a huge opening, such as when they're reloading.
It's the most fun outta the suits imo and you never know what to expect when you fight someone who's wearing it. If they're not clever, they're not a good scout. |

P.S. I took the road less traveled and made an Armour based Scout. Not less traveled at all
I thought it was a cool secret too but I found out everyone does it.
Anyways Scouts do not need the following buffs: Speed HP
But do need a fitting buff: Either CPU/PG boost Additional High Slot
Heavies also do not have the additional low slot and I don't know what's up with that. |

Heavies also do not have the additional low slot and I don't know what's up with that. The PG is actually decent on the suit, especially if you have the Skills to increase it. The same with CPU if you have the skills. Keep in mind though that while it does have more than enough PG it doesn't have as much CPU because it's a Gallente suit.

Probably me, most likely will spec into it. I speculate:
-150 shields -50 armor -more detectable because of shields but still lower dB than assault -more high slots than low slots (2 high 1 low for STD) -higher speed than Gallente scout (less armor means faster).

Scout ducks behind a wall, my Assault is immediately blind, and it's possible that a Good Scout will step out, fire a quick burst, then vanish before I can return fire.
Scan Precision helps you to not lose track of the target instantly when they move out of scan range or line of sight. Scan Profile helps to ensure the enemy loses track of you faster when you move out of their line of sight.
Scan range doesn't help at all beyond whatever your range is (base of 15m for anything but a Scout, and base of 45m for Scouts). |

Been playing scouts since before the e3 build, I know how to play them but they are a liability on the feild as you can do anything a scout can do almost as well and some times better in an assualt suit and still be combat effective, and all for less skill points. my problem isnt that I cant survive heavy combat but rather that it is damn near impossible to escape it without compleatly neutering your damage output or tank.
Yes scouts are broken, they need a 10 percent buff to speed all around, and they would be fine. |

people think that SG scout is a good combo. Not true. It's too weak against advanced or proto suits. At low tiers it's fine. At higher tiers it's severely lacking. |

Those are not real factors, they are just some near hollow stats that CCP put in the game that mean next to nothing in combat. |

They are real factors when you've been spotted and are trying to evade via use of cover.

Right, except evading and running away all match long does not win battles. The stealthyness and situational awareness of scouts are so marginal that they are more likely to hurt than help you. The second you start relying on them they come short and get you killed.
Now with 100% honesty - yes they offer a small advantage but the advantage is so small that it does not come close to compensate the suit's other shortcommings. |

Okay, but in my opinion, the scout is not meant to be in toe to toe battles. That's what an assault suit is for. |

Think of Dust as a game of chess.
Each suit is a named piece, respectively.
Each piece, whether it be the Rook, or the Knight, has its tactical advantages.
The Rook can travel further, faster, but is restricted in how it goes about this movement and cannot afford to be trapped in a corner.
The Knight is also restricted, but far more versatile in an enclosed space.
You move the piece you think has the greatest tactical advantage.
You choose the suit that you believe will suit your tactical style of play.
Accept how Scout suits work, adapt to them, or choose another suit class at re-spec.

RIght. But this is an FPS game. If you say that scout is for uplink drops or hacking or spotting red dots, who would play as a scout suit? Who is the FPS world would be attracted to a role like this. Early on CCP concept for scout was that it can close in fast and relatively stealthy and if say that heavy snoozed your approach, close up scout is much more efficient and has huge DPS that's effective only close up, and so in this case, why, of course scout can whip the heavy's ass. As the beta evolved this consept was dealth away with. A scout suit would have maybe 40 against 6 odds of killing a heavy suit close up and at all other ranges you won't even touch a heavy. Unless you use SR which most ppl would argue is a much better weapon for logi or assault. |
