I am a bit confused as to how much damage AV nades actually do.
For example, packed AV nades say 232.0 HP splash damage. Is that the entire damage amount? 232? Seems low. Would take a ton to even touch a militia tank, so obviously that isn't true.
What is the actual damage amount?
And how is this increased/reduced by shields versus armor? Where can I find information like this, it doesnt appear to be in game. |

AV nades deal over 1000 direct damage. The stat was removed long ago for some ******** reason. |

Im curious to know the exact amount to determine if it makes sense to have an AV squad member use flux nades to quickly drain the shields of a tank (probably all of the shields on most shield tanks) before the rest of us launch our AV nades. But if the AV nade damage is strong enough, it might not make sense since once the shields are stripped, the flux user would lose their purpose.
But then again, I suppose after their initial damage, they can simply switch to defending the others from infantry swarming to save the tank... |

Unfortunately, no one here can probably tell you that.
However, as an avid user of EX-0 AV nades. I've been able to take down weak tanks with only the 3 I have on me... so its probably right around 1000-1250 direct damage.
tbh, its not worth it imo. AV nades are good vs. idiot LAV drivers trying to run you over and also have a bonus vs. armor tanks.
against tanks, AV > flux imo.
Having 2-3 people rain down EX-0 nades on a MLT or STD tank is often enough to outright destroy it or at the very least scare the driver into not engaging infantry directly for the rest of the battle.
If you play with certain people all the time, just go Gren 3 and get those. |

If you read closely it says splash damage. We don't know how much direct damage they do |

I suposed two things wich i never tested: -Spalsh damage may depend on the size of the target ( a tank taking more damage than infantry) -there is a radius of damage. The position of the target in that defined circle may influence the damage. |

I believe a general rule of thumb is to move the decimal place to the right one spot...
so pack AV reads 175 then it actually is 1,750 |

If I remember right the reason for this nonsense was in there original form AV nades did 1k+ damage to EVERYTHING with a huge splash radius and the players pretty much went "Alright, so why would I ever want to equip a normal grenade if I can instagib a heavy with av nades?"
So later on CCP nerfed them, making them deal the splash damage you see now, but that damage was multiplied by 10 against vehicles. They could still be used against infantry, though they were really ineffective against dropsuits compared to locus grenades, as they should be
Then they were changed again into the magnetic homing contraptions we know and love/hate today and I'm pretty sure they don't blow up at all unless you hit a vehicle (or over-cook the grenade for some reason)
The still confusing outdated attributes continue to show the hilariously low splash damage attribute without explaining that it does more to vehicles because beta |
