Why does the camera keep zooming in and out when you start sprinting? honestly, what is the point? i find it extremely disorienting, obstructive, and it's completely unnecessary. if CCP knew anything about field-of-view, they would realize that decreasing it makes you feel like you're moving slower. so how does decreasing field-of-view when you start sprinting make any sense at all?
This is game design 101, it's mind boggling how this has been left in the game for so long... |

I'm not feeling sick from this and I can sprint up to 9.4m/s. CCP is not at fault for you having motion sickness. |

please don't try and defend their ignorance. motion sickness isn't the only problem. decreasing field-of-view gives the sense of running through jello and obstructs your view so you can't see what's going on in your peripheral vision. when you sprint the camera should zoom out, not in, or do nothing at all. there's literally zero logic behind CCP's choices. |

Perhaps the OP's concern can be addressed with adding an option to eliminate certain field of view changes and camera sway.
However, camera sway should still be added during ADS.
Don't try to use motion sickness as an excuse to get an advantage. |

The zoom is called tunnel vision and does occur when moving at decent speeds. It's a bit severe in the game but nobody I know has a problem playing because of it.
EDIT: Not as severe as I initially thought. a sprint of 9.4 m/s is 33.8 km/h (21 mph). Much faster than normal people can run. |

Ya what a surprise, the people who continue to play this game like the mechanics. i wonder what the million players who immediately deleted the game off their hard drive as soon as they played their first match thought about issues like these...we'll never know because none of them care enough about this game to find these forums and give their feedback.

To get an advantage? i want this issue to be removed from the game entirely. there would be no side effects and it would improve the game for everybody. |

and tunnel vision belongs in first-person shooters why?...
also there isn't a time in this game where you can even remotely feel like you're moving that fast, a testament to how bad this tunnel vision effect is (or CCP is BSing their movement speed numbers). |

ok, then our horizontal field of view should be nearly 180 degrees (nearly twice what we have in-game now) and objects should begin to blur at a distance due to imperfect vision in order to accurately portray the human eye....
do you see what i'm trying to get at? realism doesn't belong in video games and if you want realism you have to be consistent. if we can't have a real human's field-of-view then why should we include something as random as tunnel vision? (especially when there's zero benefits to having it and all it does is detract from the gameplay). in fact by real-life standards we all already have severe tunnel vision in-game even without the sprinting... |

He's not claiming it's not him. But if the game is giving some people motion sickness, than CCP ought to make it possible to at least reduce the effects that are causing it. No reason to alienate people over a medical condition they didn't choose to get. |

You think that's bad? Try riding shotgun in an LAV. JAYsus! The passenger seat in those things is like going on Mister Toad's Wild Ride while on acid and guzzling Jagermeister.
Okay, it might not be all THAT bad, but, still, it's kind of disorienting.
In all seriousness, though, I've never even noticed the tunnel-vision effect the OP is referring to, myself. Like, not that I'm not bothered by it; I simply wasn't aware of it at all. Are there many people who have problems with this? Maybe it should be attenuated somewhat, if it's that extreme. |

Regardless of it it's rare or not, some people do experience motion sickness, and I would argue that developers should do what they can to make the game as available as possible. I'm told they need to work on the names and HP bars, too, because people with red/green color blindness are having trouble telling friend from enemy. |

Anyone who has motion sickness should probably stay away from the game. If the OP gets dizzy just from tunnel vision, I hate to see how he gets when he boards an LAV or a dropship. If anything, I get disoriented trying to figure out which way I'm facing when I respawn. |

Llan Heindell. Staggering. It's something I don't experience personally so the problem doesn't exist.
That aside can't say it's something I've noticed before, the sway. The zooming had struck me as slightly odd now and then but otherwise hadn't noticed it all that much. I wouldn't think it's removal would be a dramatic shift in how things play out and if it mitigates these issues for some people slightly it'd probably be worth it. I wouldn't think sway would be that much of a gamechanger if removed either, chief limitation of sprinting has always been viewpoint locked in the direction of your movement.
Hell, even CoF goes from blooming to stable when you stop sprinting in a snap of the fingers. If you want to lower the viability of sprinting then immediately engaging that'd be what you'd change to penalise it rather than using sway to do so.
But as an aside to OP I do know that the zoom is diminished when running with a sidearm (at least, does for scramblers), by extension it might reduce some of the swaying also. Might help a little in the meantime. |
