Congratulations, butthead, you just missed the entire point of EvE Online with that sentence. You do understnad that the WHOLE ******* POINT of EvE is that they players make the story, not some lore wizards in the back. There are no quests that you do not make for yourself (sorta). The Battle For Caldari Prime? That's US writing the story. Yeah, we may not do all the details, but it's still our story. You just completely lost all credibility as a journalist for me.

Eat **** and Die. Me: Community makes the story, drama, development, not a single person/group You: Players make the story, not a group of lone wizards lol. It seems we had a misunderstanding..... Glad to see we see eye-to-eye. Perhaps I used bad wording. Dunno why you think we are in disagreement; my whole point was that the community makes the story....whereas this story takes the events of the community and puts its own story to it. But whatever, I'm happy knowing that we agree even if you didn't see it. Sorry for confusion, but I 100% agree with you. I was only trying to express that the players make the story, not Dusters. o_0 But that's the thing, is that he can make the story. There is so much that goes on in EvE that CCP doesn't write about, that's why people like Dusters like to sensationalize things. Hell, CCP can work it into the story like "Early reports received conflicting intel, ranging from a raid in space to a heist". Nevertheless, don't be uptight about people making up their own story for events. We've all done it for some fiction that we've read/watched/whatever. |

Well I guess you're right but that's not completely why I responded. Uptight about someone making their own story, not so much; oversensationalizing a corp battle that was just that---a corp battle......that's what I was partly uptight about. I mean, others in response to this thread, the facebook group, and the other various discussions on this issue have pointed out various faults with the story-type; ranging from why would ISK be travelling in cargo ships like this to why would this be considered closer to the EVE-side of things when it's Dust related. I guess I just don't understand the need when all that happened is easy to understand. If Dusters would have had some drama story about the two Contracted parties (the organizations that setup the contracts) and the planet involved...all data which is listed in game and by the videos....then it would have been an amazing story. I try not to delve deep into that kind of fiction unless it's what people want. But I mean, even EVE players will read that story and be like "huh? Why would ISK be transferred like that?" There isn't clarity to the story; some people are even asking if its a Dust event or an EVE event. That kind of confusion shouldn't exist in a "news" report (hence my citing of the word). But I see what you're saying and I realize that I guess I came off as a whiny *****. But whatever is "made up" should be done with consistency and a mind toward the community as a whole. Besides, there's so many different responses to all this its difficult to discern the worthwhile ones from the irrelevant ones. If I offended you or ruined your opinion of me then I apologize. I wholeheartedly agree. I realize I sounded like an ass in my first post, but thank you for being reasonable with me. I do think some level of consistency should be there, in terms of "filling in the gaps" of lore like this, but still. I think we should let the community take some baby steps towards writing some lore, and maybe we'll see some really cool stuff come out of it. |
