I've been wondering which skills to pick recently as I've heard the NERF hammer being thrown around a little too close to my beloved AR. If I skill into light weapon sharpshooter (in the hope we get a good DMR someday) will it be worth it for the AR to just get smacked by the hammer?
I think to be safe I should max out all the core skills like shield control etc but I'd rather out-range and out-damage my opponents than even get into direct firefights with them. I also hope to be a big player in PvE when that hits so I want something to benefit that too.
Any tips on what I should train to GÇ£future proofGÇ¥ myself? |

Thanks for all the replies guys! The thing about core skills is that they're really expensive for what I feel is such a small gain. I've not neglected them entirely of course, I have field mechanics 4, shield control 2, shield enhancements 4 as well as the other shield skill (the regen one) at level 4. Circuitry is level 3 as well as the powergrid one at level 3.
Most of my SP is in the Caldari suit at 3 and weaponry is at level 5 as well as AR operation at 5 with proficiency 1.
Should I just round off my core skills and wait to see what happens? The only problem with doing that is I'll always be worrying about the nerf hammer. |

Yeah sorry, I forgot to mention it. I have sharpshooter at level 3 but level 5 seems so far away when some of my other skills are cheaper. I was hoping PvE would be around by now to really test my mettle.
As for the other poster saying to try something more than vanilla, I actually started as a heavy as I fell in love with the concept art for the HMG when it was first released, after playing as a heavy and skilling a little into HMG's I decided it wasn't for me in the PvP world, I needed something more long range.
The other role I play in FPS games is the role of designated marksman, so I skilled into sharpshooter and bought myself some Tactical Assault rifles and used them for a while, then they were nerfed or I just got repeatedly beasted by rapid fire AR's so I switched and never looked back.
The point of this tl;dr post is to point out that even though GÇ£80%GÇ¥ of players use the AR, there reasons for getting there can be insanely different. |

Wow, proficiency 5! Congrats dude! I think what I'm gonna do is save some SP for when the new build hits and see what happens. Anyone else doing the same? |
