Redline is OP.

- Is there a counter to it?
Nope
- Are a lot of people using it?
Every Skirmish, every player spends some time in the redline.
- Can a newberry pick it up and instantly become a god with it?
It's equally effective in any (or even NO) hands.
- Does it kill insanely quick?
After "charging", it one-shots anything, including a tank
- Has the person that's complaining about something being overpowered tried said weapon?
I've tested the redline on many occasions
- Is it easy to use?
Just make the enemy step where you want
- Is it as effective without damage mods?
There are no redline damage mods. And as mentioned, it one-shots EVERYTHING without them
- Are you killed by it repeatedly every game?
I can be
- If it can only be obtained through salvage it's not overpowered.
Nope

Any newb can pick up a shotgun, run up close to someone while dodging AR/sniper/FG rounds and one shot them. Any newb can pick up a sniper rifle and start sniping people. By that definition, MDs, LRs, shotguns and sniper rifles are OP.
ARs aren't OP. They're multi-use, which means that they outgun HMGs, SMGs and shotguns mid to long range, snipers mid to short range, lasers at short range, FGs at short and mid range (long, too, if you're smart) and pretty much every other weapon in a certain situation.
It's not as if ARs have no weak points. They're outmatched in certain situations, and you need to get assaults into the situation where you can take them out, instead of let them dictate the terms of engagement. Basically, if you can dictate the terms of engagement, and you're using a weapon better-suited to those terms, you should win.
At point-blank, my Shotgun trumps almost everything. At not-point-blank, it doesn't. If the other guy has a better Shotgun, I'm still going to lose. |

And my point exactly. Don't run up to a scout using a shotgun, don't charge a heavy, run up to a sniper, etc. Always dictate the terms to the best of your abilities. If someone manages to get the drop on you, well... That was just good play. If you're both aware of each other's position, the advantage of a better Shotgun is the range at which you one-shot the target, so unless one player has a positional advantage, the weapon (and related skills) means the difference between kill and die. |
