melee. that ***** worthless. you can elbow the guy directly in the head and nothing will happen, but the smurf running past your right will take a random friendly fire hit from you.
can we complain about this more please? maybe make the melee system similar to halos in terms of how fluid it is?
i mean sometimes the guy just decides to not even melee when you put in the input.. really.. |

If anything, the knife should be the one being buffed/fixed. I'm so sick of seeing my fist stronger than my knife. |

Yeah, it's pretty much crap. I was also going to mention that Halo does melee pretty well (at least in terms of how well it works) and it sort of seems like that's was CCP is trying to go for anyway. The "assasinations" from Reach/4 would be pretty fun too. |

idk about the assassination thing.. the speed differences of everyone are pretty crazy and trying to imagine a recon suit overpower a heavy one for an assassination gives me headaches.
idk.. maybe just keep it like halo 3's melee, but hey thats just me. |

Isn't there a skill that increases melee damage though??? I usually kill people close enough with melee, although they have shields down. It seems it's very good vs armor but weak vs shields. |

i'm not saying anythings really wrong with the damage, or that theres not enough support or whatever..
what im saying is it feels like you push the button and the guy basically swings a limp arm at someone. maybe it'll hit, maybe he wont even swing. who knows, but the doctor couldnt find a problem.
maybe try and improve the system so it feels more fluid and is something you can actually rely on in cqc.. not something u use to just cancel stuff or smack afkers like it currently is. |

Could be a skill or something you'd have to spec into. Maybe at level 5 of a 3x or higher skill.

Don't worry about it man, I'm not really serious or anything. Not like CCP would decide to add something like that because of me anyway. It was just a fun suggestion. If you want a more serious discussion/feedback on the issue it should be in the feedback/requests section of the forums anyway. |

I would like increasing hand to hand combat skills to give you different options when fighting. Level 1 hand to hand combat is a simple elbow, level 2 is a weapon+elbow combo, with increased damage when using heavier weapons. Level 3 would allow you to sprint and melee, giving increased damage and lnockback to your blows. Level 4 would unlock counter hits (I'm thinking AC series), where you could dodge an enemies' attack and garuntee a hit of your own while knocking them out of melee range. Level 5 would unlock a kill animation if your hit would kill the enemy anyway.
In Maken Tosch's case, he could sprint with nova knives charged, hit with an elbow and finish with two strikes of his knives in one fluid attack, which I think would be pretty cool. |

Widening the arc for a confirmed hit should do the job. Something needs to be done about Nova knives too. Currently there is no situation short of standing right at the back of a stationary opponent in which knives are the preferred option to melee.
Oh and: Nova Sword. Do it CCP. |

The melee hit box seems a bit off to me as well. I've hit someone behind me with a melee before, and hitting people to my side (out of my FOV) is fairly common. Hitting someone in front of me rarely happens. Even when they have no shield, half armor, and are standing perfectly still hacking something. |

if anyone here has played halo they know exactly what i mean when i say the hits just feel solid. you know when it is and isn't going to hit, its just a solid swing... feels kind of like shooting weapons in cs 1.6..
im not even saying oh buff melee it up need nerf wahhh just make it feel right. its like spaghetti arms right now, it feels bad, man. |

I like melee the way it is. Kind of a Hail Mary at the end of a fire fight. You're both reloading, you may be thinking "his health is pretty low, maybe I can get in close and take him down faster than the reload animation." I don't think an elbow should be more effective than bullets, which I feel like a lot of people try to use it for, in vain.
Also, melee is hilarious when my squad gets a jump on a sniper. It's all "GET HIM!!!" and a fury of fists come down upon the unlucky soul. |

thats fine man, thats fine.. leave it at what its at.. just.. make it feel like you know when and when it isnt going to work, and make it feel like a hit that'll bust thru that guys shields and armor, you know? it's like.. i don't know how to explain it.

theyre not supposed to be instant kills, thats not what im implying.. neither am i asking for a lunge.. just look at what happens when u actually melee the person. like.. idk it looks and feels like thats a freaking punch from a guy in a powersuit strong enough to kill a person lol. i dont know how to describe it.. its just really wonky in dust.
