Noted. But i see this as the perfect time as we have just enough time to do a tourney before the uprising patch comes and removes the corp battles feature :P

No, its not a perfect time. It's probably the worst time possible to do so. If any corp is smart they will realize that the first month of corp battles could easily put them a billion isk negative. There is no way districts will be able to earn isk and be used for combat at the same time.
If you or others can't see that then they deserve to be broke and non-factors in PC come next build. |

Talked it over with some of my friends and we'd really like to see some high competitive action here. $125 in digital prizes will be offered by GNN provided we just get an agreement on coverage.
Some things I'd like to list as far as what "coverage" means:
- Discussion with participant corp leaders on why they are participating, their hopes, what they gunna bring to fight
- If possible a live stream link to provide for viewers
- Ladder posting/development
- Exclusive first-access to comments/thoughts after battles are waged by both sides

Hey guys! Getting some work on the dust514 section on CSL done today and the website techs need to do some back end work for me before the section is published and the tournament will be set up
In the meantime, to speed things up once the brackets are live, it would be sweet if the corps willing to participate start signing up to CSL and forming teams for their corps
Obviously the CEO needs to needs to be the captain of the team and the team name needs to be the same as the corp name, i am aware that some corps easily have hundreds or even thousands of members and getting them all to sign up would be a silly idea.
So for now if you guys get a minimum of 16 corp members into the respective corp team, I'll allow the entire corp and its members to play the matches even if they dont have a CSL account (or just have everyone signup and my superiors will be very happy :P)
Getting started guide: http://www.consoles.net/eu/staticpage/show/1936/
I've also set up a general forum for dust514, feel free to populate that as you guys see fit as long as it obeys the rules, ill check it every so often if you guys have questions.

You should just leave the Imperfects if you want to continue doing things like this and it would save you 100% of the headache.
Corporations are saving for PC in a month. The expected ISK loss represented by your tournament is very high, and at a time where people are more concerned with their pocket books than they are with e-fame.
Drop the entry fee and you'll have a shot, at least, of getting a healthy number of teams. |

The entry fee is intentionally scaled to encourage smaller organizations that may not even be involved in PC to participate. I have a lot of trouble imagining the 500+ members in KEQ can't afford the entry fee. |

Organizations are also welcome to create a corp specifically for putting a team into the tourney if your alliance corporation doesn't want to be entered directly.
Most ROFL corps have been taught the ways of penny pinching lv. 5. (Probably my fault tbh, sorry.) Got to spend it where it matters until we can transfer iskies from Eve. We do however as always support your efforts to provide the community with good solid activity. Good luck on this one and I hope to hear all about it next time you visit The ROFL House Show!

It's not a matter of affording it, it's a matter of whether it's worth it. This close to PC? Definitely not. The entry fee, as in the regular corp battle system, is simply icing on the cake after significant expected gear loss.
As Mit mentioned, I'm entirely supportive of your community efforts, but my support unfortunately doesn't make the timing more convenient. |

why have any payment.... It's in game money whats the point? To make it so players have less gear? What if starcraft was like, want to be in this tournament? sorry for grind in game money before you can ladder.
this sin't real life you **** *** you don't need compensation.
I will however congratulate you on the best cash for isk transfer rate I've even seen. buying up to 800 million isk to fund your corps clone costs and get an in-game advantage right before release. Or wait sorry, is the isk for the review? Or are you going to give the isk back like the official eve online tournament held every year now for cash prizes?
Well have fun with your scam but I'll have no part of it thank you, I'll continue to buffer my own war chest thank you. See you when we plow through your territory. |

During the Testers Tournament during the closed beta we had multiple teams that didn't even show up. The entry fee is designed to weed those teams out.
Crazy, I'm glad to see that all of the community work people have put into the tourneys doesn't mean anything to you and that you feel that I'm attempting some scam. You're welcome to feel that way and put on your tinfoil hat. Right now I'm sure that the last tourney winners are enjoying their prizes as I'm sure the winners of the Chromosome Cup will enjoy theirs.

We are holding in-corp lotteries for some of the prizes from the OB tourney. Besides crazy, if Kain wanted to ever have an ounce of credibility, he wouldn't swindle a tourney. Considering the effort he is putting in to try and make Dust fun on the competitive side, I think he wants to maintain credibility. |

Its not that ppl cant afford its that ppl dont want to WASTE the entry fee ISK + price to replace gear (vehicles, heavies etc) after every match because THAT adds up especially when chances of winning a bigger payout than u lose is slim for ALOT of the corps should the big boys enter. It does not encourage ppl in any way to blow ISK when ppl trying to save for PC which by itself is expensive already.
The Testers tourney was a LONG time ago as well and that was 16v16 so no the entrance fee to weed out teams in current 8v8 doesnt hold up here when alot of corps more than have the numbers and its half the playercount that was used during the testers tourney
You know i fully support what u have done for the competitive side of DUST but yea the timing for this one isnt good.
Bad timing is bad.
Wait till whenever CCP graces us with arena mode to do proper tournies again. |

Well, since the majority of the larger corporations are focusing on PC the tourney will be updated to limit it to corporations of 50 members or less and the entry fee will be eliminated.
Direct sign up for the brackets is not live yet, but CEOs should feel free to sign up and register their team on the CSL site.

I think your adjustment to the tournament was a wise decision and I hope corps come out to play and make this a success. You know I fully support these community events but there is one thing that irks me about this...what is ESL/CSL doing to sponsor this?
Prizes are coming out of your and the community pocket again which is great, but other than taking a bit of the work load off your plate by setting up the bracket what is ESL offering towards this? They get promo in the Dust community, a foot in the door as far as our burgeoning competitive scene goes and 16 x however many corps enter in new members on their site.
I understand this is a 'long play' for you Kain, and I wish you well in these endeavours but surely ESL/CSL could step up with something if we as a community are to take their interest in us seriously. |

Great idea Kain Spero and I'm proud there is someone brave enough to invite the community out considering how sad some of us can get when ISK is brought up (read the PC threads ).
Maybe after this event you can start a money laundering service where anyone can put up PSN codes and be descretely matched with an ISK buyer. Every MMO needs a good gold for cash service.
Don't flag me people, let's keep this on the DL and yeah I just posted this. |

A fair observation there cookie, you are correct that at this point in time besides hosting the brackets on the website and the twitter advertisement spam of dust that goes with it, ESL currently do not have any prizes to offer for dust.
The ESL is looking towards tournaments with prizes in the future of dust, most likely around release when tools are in place in-game to create matches easily, however instead of just appearing out of thin air down the line, it was my decision that communicating with the community as early on as possible is one of the best things that i could do at this stage in the game's life.
(totally not advertising for Gimble, but you should check out his Boots on the ground podcasts anyway :P) I will be on this weeks episode of boots on the ground, If i have permission from one of my superiors i will try as best i can to give an insight into what the future holds for ESL and dust.

Brackets and sign-ups are now live!
http://www.consoles.net/eu/dust514-ps3/8on8/corp/signup/
To make it much easier for you guys to get into the tournament, only the CEO of the corp is required to make a corp team.
I will work on the empty rules section today, but here is the general gist of the rules:
- Corps signing up must have the same corp name on the ESL team, including the corp tag is preferable
- Corps may only have a maximum of 50 members
- Corps must play their own matches, any use of ringers is prohibited
- At the end of every match, corps must submit photo (or video) evidence of the match results, clearly showing the players in the match, the corps of each team. I also require a photo or video of either the victory screen or the one just after it where you gain sp, isk and salvage.
- No item restrictions are in place, everything goes
- In the event of someone using aimbots or something that would provide an unfair advantage (that isnt just them using more expensive items in game) must be reported in a protest, sufficient evidence must be provided
The cup begins this saturday 13th of april at 20:00 CEST, corps have 4 days to play each round
Round 1 must be completed by Wednesday 17th Round 2 must be completed by Sunday 21st Round 3 must be completed by thursday 25th Round 4 must be completed by monday 29th The final rounds (battles for 3rd and 1st place) must be completed by friday the 3rd of may |

This won't be the last tournament by any means, but it may be while before the next one depending on how things turn out with PC in the next build. I'll be doing what I can to keep competitive play alive and well in Dust. For right now I'm happy to give smaller corps a chance in the limelight.
Also, I'm happy to have ESL and CSL running the brackets for the tournament. Just because Dust may not be in a place yet where more direct and official sponsorship is possible doesn't mean we can't get the ball rolling. |

u dont need it but if u want dust to be taken srsly as an esports game it needs these features take a look at the COD championships that was over the weekend the spectator experience is very important in producing high quality esports tournaments
i know the MMO stuff has to be developed 1st , my point is CCP likes to move like they got arthritis in all their joints when it comes to gettin things done on time/in a timely manner
**** this game out a year now and we NOW gettin FW and PC and still dont got simple **** like corp roles, corp armory, ability to moderate channels dust side, like 4 maps, still shoddy hit detection....shall i continue? ok good to know u see my pt. |
