Seeing as how May 6th is a good ways off I think this should give us plenty of time to have another player tournament.
Right now I'm looking at a buy in tournament with teams putting up between 50 million to 100 million to enter the tourney with the money then payed out to the winners and those that placed.
I'm in contact with members of the community to see about having another party or potentially a professional gaming organization run the tournament while I will handle the collecting the buy-ins and distribution of the winnings to the champions and to those who place.
I'll keep you guys posted as this develops, but if you are interested in participating I would go ahead and start getting organized. |

Awesome! I know some pilots have been asking about Eve-centered prizes as well. I'll probably throw in a PLEX for some OB action. |

If you lowered the ISK significantly, corps would have no problem participating just for the bragging rights/good games/merc packs
Yeah, this is the feedback I'm looking for. If 50-100 million is to high what kinds of numbers are folks thinking? |

That's why I'm looking to get feedback about the buy-in level. I'd like folks that haven't been able to participate in a tournament have a chance to do so. |

Update!
The Electronic Sports League has expressed interest in running the next Dust 514 tournament before the next build drops.
While the ESL will operate the the tournament the prizes will be in-game ISK funded by an ISK buy-in that will be managed by Spero Escrow Services. Other prizes for the tourney will be community sponsored.
I will update this thread as the details are fleshed out. |

Here's a thought. What about tiered buy-ins based on corp size with the buy in getting larger the bigger the corp?
8 to 50: x ISK 50 to 100: x ISK 100+: x ISk |

Problem is the next build does away with current corp battle system entirely and battles will have to rely exclusively on using planetary conquest to pull something like this off. That opens a whole can of worms in terms of organizing these types of events.
Honestly, this is going to be the last chance to do a straight forward competitive tourney for a while. |

Gargamel Clone wrote:Sounds like a Scam, A tourny on may 6th the start of PC? with 50-100 mil for an entrance fee... i feel sorry for any corp to fall for this one. while corps fight for a tourny, gIMPS will be using all that isk for PC.
The tourney ends before May 6th not on it.
The last tournament that I hosted was very successful and I handled prizes of much more value than these entry fees including shirts, plexes, and merc packs which constituted hundreds of real $ in prizes and billions of ISK. The point of doing an entry-fee tourney is to make sure only serious teams enter since there isn't time to do an Open Round-Robin like last time.

Pleas do! Shoot a message to my Eve-side: Kane Spero as that is the best way to get in touch with me. I have something in the works now that will hopefully facilitate exactly this kind of community interaction.
There are lots a awesome Dusters out there that want to put effort and provide content to the community through tournaments and I think being able to give you the tools to do that would be awesome. |

The entry fee is intentionally scaled to encourage smaller organizations that may not even be involved in PC to participate. I have a lot of trouble imagining the 500+ members in KEQ can't afford the entry fee. |

this sin't real life you **** *** you don't need compensation.
I will however congratulate you on the best cash for isk transfer rate I've even seen. Buying up to 800 million isk to fund your corps clone costs and get an in-game advantage right before release. Oh wait, sorry, is the isk just for your corporation wallet? Or are you going to give the isk back like the official eve online tournament held every year now for cash prizes?
Well have fun with your scam but I'll have no part of it thank you, I'll continue to buffer my own war chest. See you when we plow through your territory.
During the Testers Tournament during the closed beta we had multiple teams that didn't even show up. The entry fee is designed to weed those teams out.
Crazy, I'm glad to see that all of the community work people have put into the tourneys doesn't mean anything to you and that you feel that I'm attempting some scam. You're welcome to feel that way and put on your tinfoil hat. Right now I'm sure that the last tourney winners are enjoying their prizes as I'm sure the winners of the Chromosome Cup will enjoy theirs.

Well, since the majority of the larger corporations are focusing on PC the tourney will be updated to limit it to corporations of 50 members or less and the entry fee will be eliminated.
Direct sign up for the brackets is not live yet, but CEOs should feel free to sign up and register their team on the CSL site.

This won't be the last tournament by any means, but it may be while before the next one depending on how things turn out with PC in the next build. I'll be doing what I can to keep competitive play alive and well in Dust. For right now I'm happy to give smaller corps a chance in the limelight.
Also, I'm happy to have ESL and CSL running the brackets for the tournament. Just because Dust may not be in a place yet where more direct and official sponsorship is possible doesn't mean we can't get the ball rolling. |

I have to agree with Mavado here. I think having some sort of formal Arena mode would be very desirable. We need more professions in Dust and Gladiatorial Champion sounds like it could be pretty BA.
Having competitive play present in a way that can interact with Eve through things like betting can be another notch on the belt of cools things that happen in Dust and nowhere else. |

Nothing. If folks want to set up teams specifically for the tourney there is nothing stopping them.
Also, there was a bug on the sign-ups that was kicking out some people who were trying to register their team but were getting an error message about not having 8 people. This should be fixed now so get in there and sign up! |
