I think they should as their is no downside to stacking as much shield as possible.
Currently damage mods receive a stacking penalty (or they're supposed to ), so do shield regulators and Armour mods receive a penalty to movement speed.
I think adding a penalty would still give people a nice health buff to those who still decide to stack but may also encourage some players to add a bit more diversity to their fittings.
I'd like to know other players opinions on this and whether they agree or disagree.

No, shield extenders should increase signature radius, making them easier to spot on radar. |

Why does it matter to you how diverse other peoples fits are?
Just leave it be shields are the only things that protect you from redline snipers. Plus with the new shield equipment coming in does it really matter? |

Good suggestion, I think it would have to a quite significant increase though as you seem to pop up on radar pretty easily already.

If not a stacking penalty then it needs to take up much more cpu and pg or make it easier to see on the radar for sure. |

It doesn't matter to me particularly, however it just seems odd that most other modules receive some sort of penalty while shields don't. I feels a penalty would make other modules seem a bit more appealing.
I like to mess about and experiment with my fittings, however stacking shields is pretty much the best choice in most situation currently. |

If you're putting stacking penalties on shield extenders, you need to put them on armor plates too, since they're two sides of the same coin. |

Armour already has a penalty to your movement speed, 10% for complex mods I believe

As far as I know, only percentage based modules get stacking penalties. Which has to do with the math, since stalking would give you increased returns otherwise, 1.21 instead of 1.20 for damage mods for instance. |

No no and no. Lazers and flux nade shred full shield suits in an instant. There is no reason to penalize shield stacking as they are so quickly countered, And at a full depletion it takes 10s before recharge begins unless sheild regulators are used which though the penalty doesnt apply yet for stacking it will once fixed so even then you wont be able to reduce that delay too much.
Now if you want to increase scan signature which though they dont do know they are supposed to go in that direction in time there is no need to penalize shield stacking especially since they already have a good enough CPU burden if you anything other than miltia/std stuff elsewhere.
TL; DR Shield extenders are fine, how bout we focus on getting dmg mods fixed first. |

It may not be a stacking penalty, however it is a penalty non the less and quite a significant one at that. Stacking 2 complex armour mods would make you 20% slower.

A dev I believe it was Wolfman who said that dB value is the only thing that affects how much you appear on radar or not. Things like firing, sprinting and shields do not affect it. So the suggestion for shields to increase dB like armor decreases speed sounds pretty cool and makes sense since it does it in EVE like you said. |

Then increase their signature radius like paran said. Don't see why they need a stacking penalty. I'd rather see other modules get buffed, instead shield extenders getting nerfed. |

Um clearly you don't play Scout.... If you wanna stay alive you pretty much almost have to stack shields.... adding on a stack of shields would be STUPID! |

I haven't played to much in a scout, kinda sucks if your forced to run shield extenders to stay alive, is that not more of a balance issue with the suit itself though?
Also have you considered that you are having to stack shield extenders because you are coming up against guys in assault suits who are also stacking shields with no penalty for doing so? |

If no one used them then the game would get pretty flat and therfore boring. Nerfing them would only flatten things more, so instead of nerfing them, how about we buff other things so that their penalties are justified? |

There already is a trade off if you stack shields you cannot stack dmg mods unlike armor stacking which allows you to also utilize dmg mods so the speed penalty is fair |

I could live with this, I would just like to actually have to make a real choice between adding another extender or perhaps choosing recharger module for example.

I agree it is a problem with the suit Scout suit is the weakest most irrelevant suit in the game. I love it though... :P |

Penalize the damn shield stacking. Do it. Tired of Assaults getting all gung-ho on the battlefield just because they can tank in the higher tiers. They're the only ones truly rewarded for getting spec'd up.
'it's the only thing that protects you from snipers' my a$$. Just over 400+ total HP is enough to keep you alive vs. all snipers cept a Thale's.
Give them a stacking penalty. They will cope. They are the most adaptable after all. And it will finally balance them off with the other suits. They take point blank shotgun rounds for goodness sake. lol |

Emmm.. Stacking penalty should only affect a %-based modules, not modules that are fixed number.
If you want to nerf/balance the modules and their attributes. Then use some other mechanic, such as suggested ITT.
For shield extenders thosre might be increaced sig radius and/or sig profile |

leave the shield tanks as they are, they are already under-powered as they are, you can barley get over 7000hp on a proper shield tank and that comes with sacrificing surge protectors, shield repair and a bunch of other ****, if you wanna punish someone, punish the armor tanks, they are indestructible, even my newb soma, it has 5200 armor heavy armor repair, one pg upgrade giving me 9% shield, armor and pg, one torque enhancer and low power i forgot |
