Yes Mass driver Large Turrents! For tanks. You won't be able to shoot ahead, instead, you use the 3D map to fire like an orbital so basically it would be artillery. It would help counter the railgun, but it would be harmless to use against tanks up close, or anything. There should be no overheating. Turrent versions could be like missiles, they could be accelerated which increases the projectiles speed, larger explosion version (fragmented), and one that gives a higher rate of fire. And of course the standard Level 1, 3, and 5 versions. The tracking speed should be extremely slow, because its made to be still. -áIt should have range equal to the railgun (at the moment). It should require even amounts of CPU and PG, and should use the same skill book as missiles; just as rails and blasters do. Maybe Rename it to something like "Thermal/Explosive Hybrid Turrents." Oh in the don't actually call the turrents Mass driver, more like Cannons or something. |

Hey grodd, hope all is well. I like it, a lot. I was thinking a smaller turret the likes of a mortar launcher where squadmates could "paint" the target for your secondary gunner so the pilot could focus on driving and keeping tank alive. |

I love it but with one change: increased range over railgun but no special map for use by driver. Instead boots on the ground can use their Mark 1 eyeball or map to observe impact and adjust fire. |

I would love to be able to see an actual artillery tank on the battlefield. However, railguns have inherently greater range than artillery will ever have and more accuracy to boot. (Modern US test Railguns can hit a shed over 5 miles/8 KM) However, artillery has the ability to arc shots over terrain, buildings, and friendlies. It would also make the Missile Turret skill a bit more balanced, since right now the Hybrid Turret skill controls a long and short range set of turrets. It could also come in different variants, such as fragmentation for anti-personnel and HEAT for anti-armor. As for naming, you could change "Hybrid Turret" to "EM Hybrid Turret", since both rails and blasters use EM acceleration, to lessen the confusion between chemically accelerated, or exploding hybrid turrets and electromagnetic hybrid turrets. |

I have no problem with an indirect-fire, splash damage weapon.
The key is simply making it useless for direct fire. The rounds go up, and then down- like a mortar. |

Something like this is more minmatar than caldari.
I wouldn't be supprised to see it come when we get minmatar vehicles.
It will hav its own skill book however that will come with both artillery (long rang low rof) and auto cannons (short range high rof)
These are your current powder launched shells... and as such will probably look like rusty tubes on rustier vehicles.... |

I like the idea of a self propelled mortar.
That could fire from cover and thus evade rail guns. That could come in with anti-HAV aircraft to keep things balanced. |

I think it would be cool if there was a module infantry could carry that would send coordinates to any tanker using the Artillery turret. The targeting system would show a large reticule with an altimeter, and holding the reticule in place for a second or two would create a trajectory path of your round (This would be to discourage perfectly accurate hip firing essentially). If an infantry player used the targeting module, TACNET would display "A new target has been acquired" across the screen. This time, the trajectory path that would hit the target set by infantry would already be in place, and tankers would have to line their shots. |

+1 for this. I know my father plays these types of games and he's well into his 60's. Which is cool. He plays arty in World of tanks because normal combat is too quick for him. However, something like this might get him to start playing this game. As well, those who dont have the needed "Twitch" factor for this game. |

What would be cool is a shell that fragmented into smaller explosives over the target, covering a larger area at the cost of damage. Also, some shells should be airburst. Its just cool. In addition, CCP should add terrain destruction so there would be craters where the shells hit. |
