I'm hoping that's ALL we get - refund on skills spent when there's an alternative skill to invest SP into. Although I want to see it happen when we get racial variants of Dropsuits - if I've trained up in Amarr Heavy suits because it was my only option for the playstyle I want, but I'm a dedicated Gallente and I really want the Gallente Large Frame (when it shows up), I'd rather not have to live with a stack of now-useless SP investment in the Amarr Heavy. Same goes for weapons. If I'm Caldari, I want Caldari Shotguns and ARs, not Gallente. Although for weapons like this, it would be possible (and preferable) to have Operations as a generic skill and the Proficiency skill divided by the different racial variants.

However ... as I've said in the other "skill respec" threads ... I'd rather see the current caldari assault dropsuit skill be renamed to just assault dropsuits or medium frame suits and your inveated points will have unlocked the better factions droosuut skill, ie. level 3 now gives you A type suit, after racial variants your level 3 will have unlocked say the Minmatar dropauit command skill so you can start training that. Same goes for the weapon and vehicle skills in one way or another. So everyone will be back in Militia gear unless you have some sp saved to invest right away, but it saves having to do a respec. I don't want to see a respec ... hindsight is a reward we got for putting up with the thrid game hard freezes and constant Invalid Fittings and all the other major bugs we worked through in closed beta, you can't say you've earnt anything if you've joined since open beta ... we've had a pretty stable game since then.

We all should be able to play anything we want right now for this is a beta. The SP-earning and collecting mess should have started with the release. Right now I don't see any chance to please the playerbase with this running system. Take away all our SP and I think the majority is gone. On the other hand, give this game 5 days when its out with all this beta-vets and we will see no new-berrie ever again. Damn, it's hard enough right now for me to try to be competetive with all this pub-stomping crap. I just can imagine the pain for newer players entering this community when most of us guys are above 10 mil SP. Even the Aurum won't save these guys. Also the idea with different instances for different players (low-sec, null-sec) won't save this game forever, because everyone from the beta has this huge advance which can't be overcome unless everyone out of this beta stops playing for several months. So I am really curious how CCP is handling this. Because I really don't see any point how to be fair in this situation.

I'm just saying that Dust will lose a lot of possible players with this. You can call this an advantage or disadvantage, however you see it. For sure all this guys coming to Dust from other FPS won't hang around here long, so most of all we will just get newer hardcore players. Which is also nice, but I don't see the marketing strategies behind sacrificing a lot of potential Dust-Players for a few Hardcore-People.
