Hi folks,
When we all started to play this game, we spend our skill points on something we actually wouldn't like to use in the future. We wasted our skill points on random skills... I believe if we could reset our skills 1 by 1 like lvl5 to lvl4, we would be happy aren't we ? How it works??? for example u spent 500,000 sp on some skill, you will need to pay 10x . 500,000= 5,000,000IK to get your skill points back.
Please tell me what do you think |

1. Putting a price on the respec (you are suggesting a respec by the way) is not gonna work once the market opens up and players are able to transfer tens of millions (if not hundreds of millions) of ISK into their Dust characters from Eve. Keep in mind that 10million ISK is dirt cheap to capsuleers and the average capsuleer has billions of ISK in assets alone. That and the fact that when the market opens, Dust players will be able to profit from trading alone without having to play a single match in addition to being paid by the boat loads by their corp.
2. There is no such thing as wasted SP in New Eden. In this galaxy, every SP counts no matter where you skilled it into. Don't like the skills you invested in? Cross train to something else. Eventually things will get balanced anyways. That said, you can think of those "wasted SP" (as you call them) as long term investments that will pay off in the future.
3. We all started on the same boat and CCP will introduce new skills like they have for 10 years with Eve Online which means in ten years I will still be experimenting with new skills that may not benefit me later on anyways.
4. The inhabitants of New Eden don't take too kindly to SP respecs. |

What? So why did you join closed beta if you didn't like the reset that was happening back then? CCP posted announcements almost 1 week ahead of time for every reset and they did a half dozen resets during closed beta. Surely you had to expect this when we were transitioning from closed to open beta. |

The problem is that matchmaking, I think, is based on your total SP, not player skill or fittings.
I have K/D of ~.80 and Standard level Fittings, yet I am constantly getting stomped by 4+ Protos per match because unlike them I didn't focus exclusively on a small handful of skills. I skilled wide, and I actually regret some of my choices, because they are for vehicles ( skill descriptions weren't very clear), and I never plan on going into vehicles.
I wouldn't mind losing some skill points in the process of a reset, but there should be a way to recover points put into skills that I don't need. |

I am not sure about that, but i totally agree we must be able to recover... i spread all my sp in 4 of the classes scout assault heavy logistic. And, right now, I am always best 1-3 in my teams, but enemy always stronger than me i have to move a lot to save some time for myself to knock them down... In distance their powerful weapons always get me, but i can't get them because they have all mods and leveled armors...

But it won't be a 1:1 isk ratio if they allow people to directly transfer it at all. I personalty think it is going to be 1 isk in Dust equals 10 isk in eve so a 1:10 ratio. |

Thank for the point regarding ISK. But that still doesn't address the income sources from within Dust alone like:
1. Market trading - A highly astute player will be able to profit from the open market alone by simply buying low and selling high just like you would see from real-world market traders (Google 'Day Traders').
2. Salvage - How much ISK do you think you have in your hangar in terms of salvage alone? Now imagine salvaging an Officer weapon worth millions of ISK on the open market.
3. Corp payments - If you join a player corp that can afford paying their members like how an employer pays his employees, then you will see how much 10million ISK doesn't look that bad.
4. Districts - Remember that dev blog about how much money corporations can make from selling their extra clones? Imagine seeing those profits trickling down to the corp members.
5. Mercenary Battles - These contracts will one day be paid by other players willing to drop boat loads of ISK to capture a district.
Again, the above examples are just from Dust side alone (not accounting for Eve players). And again, there is no such thing as wasted SP because eventually you will fully specialize into your favorite profession anyways in the future. At that point, you will then be glad you accidentally invested SP into that seemingly unwanted skill book.
One more thing. What is the point of making a meaningful choice if you take away the permanent consequences of said choices? |

It depends on what kind of changes they will make to the racial skill books. If Eve Online is any indication, there is a good chance CCP will reallocate parts of your SP for you thus you will end up without a choice on the matter. In some cases, you might actually gain extra SP but those might get allocated for you as well. |

The amount of money CCP would make with this feature would be FAR greater than the $ they would lose from the few of you who claim they would never play again. I am all for this feature and would probably use it. |

I guess i will just have to earn more SP the hard way. lol if you want a feature that will respec SP please tell everyone you come into contact with to like me and my thread about this subject.

You folks should take this up with the Council of Stellar Management (you can contact the members from Dust side) and let them know about this. Let me know how many laugh at you for this. Keep in mind that Eve Online is the primary money maker for CCP from their subscription alone and not including the money they make from players buying PLEX from them. If the players revolt again like they did back in 2011 (and they revolted really hard... with their wallets) then you will feel the consequences on the Dust side of things in terms of progress, layoffs, CCP's reputation. Keep in mind that the CSM carries a lot of influence with their voters.
To give you an idea as to how much the players revolted back in 2011 (Google: "Jita Riots") consider this. The 2011 Guinness Book of World Records: Gaming Edition shows that CCP broke the record of experiencing the most number of player "walk-outs" in a single month (by the thousands). This was not the kind of PR that CCP intended, did they? As a result, 120+ employees had to be laid off, Dust development was hindered to the extreme, Incarna features for Eve Online were put on cold storage, and the CEO of CCP Games had to post a public apology to the players.
Why? Because the players heard rumors (which CCP failed to say anything about at the time) that CCP was allowing microtransactions that would include "gold" ammo or "gold" ships or the possibility of respecing for cash that were designed to be game breaking. Then there was the "Greed is Good" letter that leaked out in which CCP appeared to be a little greedy and one of the Dev Blogs addressing it came across as arrogant. On top of that, the players felt that the CSM was being treated by CCP as just a PR stunt.
I'm not just one of a "few" players that will walk out of this if CCP tries it again. I'm one of a "vast many". I can assure you that.
Addendum:
One more thing I forgot to mention. A large part of the players in Eve Online are associated with major influential forums like SA, Reddit, FHC, etc. who have connections with the gaming media. I can assure you those people are masters of spinning this whole thing around. |

oh i hear you, but unlike in EVE, DUST has not been active for years. Also CCP has been making changes to the game mechanics, thus making everyone regret some of the chooses to spec into certain things and not into others, i mean maybe a game wide respec where everyone starts over with all their SP and ISK from their skill books wouldn't be such a bad idea. At least that is somewhat fair. Maybe just at the next update and every update till Launch so we can test the new stuff properly.
P.S. a lot people are already leaving the game due to the fact that stuff has been changed and other stuff that shouldn't have changed has been changed. I might just let the game sit for a long time to get my passive SP up then come back. 10 mil passive SP a year is ok ig |

You can go ahead and believe that if you want. Just don't think I'm joking about what I said. I am serious about how Eve players organize when it comes to this stuff. And just because DUST is still in its infancy it doesn't mean that New Eden is. Both games are officially connected. And once the economies become harmonious in the coming years, there will come a time where little things will greatly impact New Eden as a whole.
But if you like to know about my compromise, in case you ever ask, I'm still ok with a once-in-lifetime-respec. |
