Hey, I was in the Eve side of the fight trying to defend the Titan earlier today, and listening to the Livestream. Quite a few times they were making a point of reminding us Eggers that the Bunnies on the ground had a substantial impact on the result.
We know that it was scripted but we saw the Gallente Navies assault and victory destroying the Shiigeru, but didn't see any impact that Dust had on it. I figured I'd come over and get it from the horses mouth due to the lack of video of the ground fighting in Eve, but what did you guys see? Did you see anything in the fighting and war that was a result of your efforts?

We fought amongst the shattered ruins of the Shigeru as meteoric chunks of titan rained down on the planet turning a standard desert planet into an ash waste wreathed by nebulae of gold, and green, and blue.
CCP achieved new heights of awesomeness. Also succeeded in really getting players into faction warfare mode. |

The battle's still ongoing. It finishes on the 25th of March, and we'll see the outcome then.
Currently the State are ahead, 719-682, as of 1900 GMT.
Not sure about what effects it'll have on the big picture. If Caldari win the ground battle, will there be a re-invasion? If Gallente win, the Caldari will lose their homeworld?
Either way, I can imagine a big war coming. |

It was really cool to see, but the only effect we're having is fairly random, unless you TK when you get on the "wrong" side. We still can't choose sides, and the matches weren't any different than normal (except for the Titan skybox, which is epic). So basically, it was more of the same with a cool background to look at. |

We actually don't really know how we impacted what happened. We have to wait until the event is over so ccp can post an aftermath report on what we actually did. |

Ah, cool, didn't know your war was still ongoing.
From the perspective of the lore I think the Caldari had to loose this. Though being a smaller State than the Gallente, they systematically defeated the Gallente in Factional Warfare. More people rolled as Caldari, we ended up getting bored and helped the Ammarians push back the Minmatar. From a plot point of view it was stale, and a Caldari victory would have probably ended up with Caldari conquest of high security regions of Gallente space.
Not sure how they can work a large scale war into this, the border war thats been going on was barely different from the previous Cold War and animosity.... Total war would end the game and reshape the future. |

I like the new Skybox, however, if anything I think the story has effected Dust, not the other way around.
The games were terrible, 3 guys fighting, the rest pissing around in the redzone trying to lose because they couldn't choose their side, and got put into the wrong one. So much team-killing. I admit, I was on the wrong side one game, and pissed around running suicide at the enemy. Terrible game. Took all the wind out of the sails for this event. |

I was flying a Thorax for the event on the Caldari side. Didn't know how the event was going to playout so was tempted to bring my Raven, but hey this worked out reasonably well.
To take the server load they had to implement time dilation, this is when the system runs at a lower rate, we hit 11% of real time at its lowest that I saw. We could not enter the Lumi system till after the Titan was dead unfortunately, around 5-7k people wanted into the system and the node could only support 1.6 at its peak. We killed quite a few Morus, but they were respawning as they were killed, Gallente victory was already written in. |
