how does this work? the turret over heats and the pilot activates the module and the turret instantly cools down? is it worth it? |

You got that backwards although it Cay be used that way. My tests indicate that it is not nearly as effective.
Coming up to hammer on something, Activate the Heat Sink, and pull the Trigger. Now you can maintain Sustained fire much Longer. When the Heat Sink shuts off after 15 seconds you will hopefully have been able to cause significantly more damage then without it.
Trading off having it in a Slot is left as an exercise for the reader/Operator/Driver. |

Passive heat sync might be for the main gun only. Unless they changed it, an active could work for the gunners too. It's not worth putting an active heat sync on a tank just for your gunners, but putting it on an LAV might make sense. |

Try not to focus anything around undoing an overheat.
Usually, blueberries are the ones to overheat a turret. If you cool it down for them, they'll be determined to overheat it again ASAP |

right. i've lost about 4 million recently to experiments with blueberry gunners and no longer will take a risk with them. it is astounding how stupid they are, no fire discipline whatsoever, it's like giving 2 uzis to a lab monkey on LSD.. |

It's not worth putting an active heat sync on a tank just for your gunners, but putting it on an LAV might make sense. This is a case of having to read the descriptions very closely before you make the decision. Some work on All Hybrid Turrets and some only on the Large Gun. They can get quite baffling as the naming convention does little to help, at least for me.
I use an Active Sink on some of my HAVs as it helps the main gun dramatically. One of the smaller Rail Guns does 1100 hp damage and fires around 4 rounds normally. With the Active engaged I can get 8 to 9 shots off before having to let it cool down. Add the +25% modifier and I can take down some pretty good gear if things are right. Assuming I drive and shoot well.
For my Gunners I use the Passive Heat Sink 2. When combined with 15 heat Scattered Neutron Turrets they can blast away for a good long time. The first time we get into a fire fight they always comment about not having to stop. |

I can now confirm that the active heat sink does work for the small turrets! |
