Because their pointless really, HMG is a joke compared to AR's, Assaults move faster and are smaller so they get hit much less in addition they can buff shields to actually tank better than a heavy ever can.
Seriously it's beyond pathetic, the Sentinel class has no benefits, "oh they can use HMG's" so what? most of the bullets miss, they do next to nothing to shields, where as AR's apperntly count as hybrid weapons since there is no differnce in damage to shields or armour.
In addition every other suit pisses on the heavy in terms of fitting in pretty much all aspects, think only the scout has less PG and CPU than the heavy.
Seriously the only class on this game that has no use IS the heavy, everything the heavy can actually do all other classes actually do better, even assaults can use forge guns.
You should warn people CCP at the character creation telling them in the description of the Sentinel class that "HEAVIES ARE POINTLESS" |

Forge guns are not. Heavy's can carry more than just a HMG. And forge guns hurt me a lot. which makes them useful. :D |

The hmg is definitely not a joke, however the upper tier suits are in comparison to the assault and logi suit |

I'm a heavy and on paper it sounds AMAZING it really does, in practice all those hitpoints go to zero in less than what? 1 second from an AR with I'm assuming lots of damage mods and skills ect |

HMG is great against everything that either heavy or upto advance level, after that it just seems to do nothing, I've had 3 AUR complex damage mods on my suit, used the advanced HMG, got weaponary to lvl 5 all I'm missing is HMG profiency. And still when I shoot at advance suits in the open at close range I die before his shields even drop to zero, I switched HMG to Gek, and suddenly their not an issue, says alot really. |

Forge guns are a marmite weapon, you either love it or hate it, but even then may as well go assault i your going to use a forge gun |

I'ma drop out of this thread because it doesn't seem worthwhile to me to compare the primary complaint of all of the "BAWW HEAVY" threads... but I see hardly any complaints about forge guns and loads about HMG. |

I use standard equipment (Raven assault suit, AR or Gek AR, basic modules). I must say I generally fear heavies more than assaults. An AR is easier to dodge and killing an assault suit simply takes less hits. Sure, when I get the jump on a heavy and can aim at his head without having to run around avoiding his HMG, I drop them easily. But if I'm caught in their line of fire, it's another story.
From what I've read though, the real issue is simply the way heavies progress, and considering that I fully support some changes to improve their progression.
I'd rather not see them removed as I'm planning to play as a heavy a bit in the future as well :D |

I see AR guys duck and cover like mad...all day, every day. Sure, the ADV/PRO ARs kill like lightning but even proto suits can go down hard and fast if they stand in the open. It seems like every time I see a Heavy, he is standing in the middle of an open field, fire pissing his HMG.
So here is my question: why should Heavies be able to stand against heavy fire from opponents in the open? They are HEAVY. I get that. HMGs have a "warmup" until they are at ideal firing spread. I get that. Still, a Heavy can use cover, too. The ones that do...kill. A great deal. If a guy is using an ADV HMG and measures his ranges...he will kill just as fast as any AR guy. Its the Heavy dude standing in that open field with the AR guy beyond his optimal range I see crying about ARs. Basically every time.
I've beaten Heavies up close before with my AR. The ratio of times it has happen versus the number of times I've gotten mowed down like grass? Not even friggin close. Am I a dupe? Maybe. Maybe Coleman here should quit playing Heavy. Maybe the best AR guys are just better than he is. I know they are better than I am and that is why they cut through me...not because their ARs are better, their suits or better or their ARs and suits are broken.
My advice? Don't whine on the forums. Go switch to AR plus Assault. If you do 15 times better like you suggest the AR is vs. your current Heavy plus HMG then there is a chance they are as broken as you claim. Maybe you're just better with ARs, though. When you kick ass with the AR, how far are you from your target, generally? If it is beyond the HMGs optimal range then you deserve to get smoked by AR guys all the time. |

The higher tier suits need a fix. big deal, thats not news. But Im pretty sure that a lot of people think my HMG is powered by dark pacts with satan and firing pure evil. What you get out of the heavy depends on what you put into it. You can get away with skimping on support skills playing an assault. You most emphatically cannot skimp on the support skills running fatsuits.
The skill combo is not "get proto gun, get proto suit, win."
Its "7 mil SP of specialization and you all will kittening LOATHE me." |

Your wrong about assault suits being able to use forge guns . Only the heavy can yield the mighty forge . I love blowing the crap out of tanks with it so leave my heavy alone . |

Maybe it's because I can't run protogear yet, but I do not find the heavy class underpowered. Sniping at them tends not to do much, as I get to watch them run for cover and the pop out fully healed in a few seconds, and walking into one or two of them tends to get me killed regardless of what I'm running. If you're having problems with damage output, look at the gear your running. Sub-proto, go with the first level. That's usually the most balanced and damaging one with most weapon types (assault guns blow).
And then there are forge guns. Ever been forge sniped? It's hilarious. There I am, trying to take out a heavy from the other end of the map, and all of a sudden the bastard blows me the **** up. Props to forge bros. |
