Arkombine Military Logistics Messenger Document : 115.03.20.22.05NEGW Dispersion Widest Possible to All Mercenaries and Capsuleers
Subject: New Deployment Orders Effective 3/22/2013 Location: Caldari Prime Surface and Orbit, Luminarie System, Crux Constellation, Essence Region, Local New Eden Cluster Sovereignty: Caldari Contested ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Attention all Mercenaries and Pilots.
As you are all aware we have been fighting over Caldari Prime for the last few days. Casualties are mounting on both sides and even non-cloners are doing massive amounts of their own kinds of terrible damage. It was only a matter of time before the Caldari Titan in orbit does something about it.
Concord has issued a travel advisory to the system and are deploying multiple tracking beacons and reinforcing the system's communication network in preparation for what they will hope not to happen. The largest empire naval fight in over a century and urges all civilian craft to avoid the system.
Gallente Navy has expressed the desired for all loyalist capsuleers to be available and at the ready.
Caldari Navy is confident they can discourage any attack but will appreciate any loyalist starship captains' presence to show soldiarity.
Command is working closely with the local units in getting the job done but it will confirm large amounts of hardware is being moved about.
Announcement from command. http://dust514.com/beta/news/2013/03/the-uprising-breaking-news-ground-fighting-erupts-on-caldari-prime/
[Deployment Times] Friday Afternoon UTC - Deployment Time to be updated once command settles naval logistics
Factions Gallente - Federal Defense Force Estimated Forces 3 Fleets including two Proto-titan weight class ships in the composition and all escorts. Possible Several Army, Marine, Mechanized, and Special Forces divisions may be on detachment aboard these craft.
Caldari - State Protectorate 2 Capital Fleets on stand-by compromising of super carriers and carrier task forces. Additional fleets may get pulled to assist. Compliment the Army, Marine, Mechanized, and Special Forces divisions may be on detachment aboard these craft.

Either way I updated the links in the OP, Gal Navy just tried to **** off the Cal Navy by illegally scanning the planet.
Gal Navy basically confirmed that all of our BS on the ground is much worse than the public is aware of. |

What type of effect would a Titan falling on a heavily populated planet have? I mean the test footage shows some smoldering wreckage and massive dust cloud, but would there be any long lasting effects? Could neighboring districts become uninhabitable?
So many questions, we'll just have to wait for the final push to what happens. |

So many questions, we'll just have to wait for the final push to see what happens. I would assume MAJOR damage, both to whatever region it hits and across the entire planet. I mean can you even imagine how much crap it would throw up into the atmosphere when it hits the ground, not to mention what it'll do to the weather patterns to have so much mass crash through the atmosphere |

So many questions, we'll just have to wait for the final push to see what happens. Depends on the damage to the ship, I would bet.
If it lands relatively unharmed (say, propulsion systems get knocked out and nothing else) it would cause some quakes and a massive dust cloud, but not much else (I think). If there's radiation or such...yeah, that could have major impacts. |

1/2 Mile asteroid going at 11 km/s
Max titan speed is 110 meters a second.
Either way expect it to wipe out a mega city. |

Current modern day titans measuring from 14 kms to 18 kms are standardized mass production variants.
A proto-titan took an entire moon to construct and are immensly massive and very destructive.
The leviathan class is only weighted at a standard titan class ships. Its armaments will be no match against the much larger proto-titan. |

Titans are kilometers (miles) long...this one is about 18 km long (~11.2 miles); absolutely enormous...Yes, even in the best-case scenario anything that happens to be in the landing zone will be completely destroyed, no doubt. Don't think that even needs to be discussed.
I do think if it does crash into the planet everyone should be evacuated, EVERYONE. You can bet SoE will be around and there will be calls to all capsuleers willing to help; heck, pirates may even come to get people off. |

Either way expect it to wipe out a mega city. well according to eve wiki the leviathan has a mass of 1,800,000,000 kg. and a very quick calculation using the speed pf 110m/s which is far slower than the speed the titan would have if it fell shows that the titan would hit the ground with a kinetic energy equal to 1.089x10 to the power of 10 KJ's . my calculator refuses to show how many 0's that is
I may be wrong, it's been a while since i last did physic equations |

For those of you who don't know your space geography or history.
Gallente Prime and Caldari Prime are both in the same system.
In its formative years Gallente eventually though telescopes found out there where people living on caldari prime. Thus starting their space race to go meet them.
Years later the two planets would form the Gallente Federation and many other inhabited planets found where brought into the fold. As with all members of the federation all members where allowed to retain their own uniqueness. However as the years wore on and the worlds more civilized, the Caldari way was deemed far too agressive for Gallente Ideals. The resulting civil war was among the bloodiest fighting that ended nearly 115 years ago when Admiral Toval Tobal crashed his super carrier into the Gallente Major city, the disaster forced theGgallente to retreat to deal with the massive crisis. All of caldari prime evacuated systems away to a new home planet New Caldari.
With the rise of capsuleer technology and recognition of so much loss during this turmoil of time, the Jove bought all four empires together and had them sign a peace treaty known as the Yulai Convention. The four empires are still at an extremely uneasy peace in attempt to be aggressive as possible without causing a massive disaster that would resulting in a vulnerability between any of the hostile nations. |

A ship that massive would cause almost no wide spread damage if it hit the planet at 1 m/s. Most asteroids as mentioned are traveling in excess of 11km/s. There are a small handful of ships able to pull that speed off. |

Fall from orbit will raise speed faster then an interceptor running microwarp.
Using a typical reentry speed and listed eve mass in asteroid calc shows ejecta landing 1000km away of finger size. This wouldn't normally be a big deal since chance of being hit is low, but if reactors and weapons make the ejecta radioactive that is some nasty fallout. Most trees in district would be flattened.
I assume the reactor core, xl weapons, and doomsday weapon secondary explosions would cause more damage then the impact.
Proto-titan warping straight at planet would probably blow it apart and fling the debris like interplanetary shotgun pellets in a cone. They are big enough just being in orbit messes with the tides and weather. |

If a titan were to go down (theoretically) it would likely have it's propulsion systems intact easing the fall. Immediate damage will be restricted to the impact site, fallout from debris as well as the Titan's reactor will be a bit more severe. Fortunately Caldari is an glacial planet which was only partially terraformed. Most life resides along the equator and in the tropics. Judging by the terrain we've been fighting on we're in a temperate zone so the loss of life to impact will be minimal. That is if the titan goes down. |
