Apparently there's some people who would like to bring over the proximity chat from MAG, and I honestly think it would be a cool idea... If and only If it's a push to talk feature only. I say push to talk only because anyone who's ever had teamchat tuned on, or just played a game of CoD, can tell you that the things that go into peoples mics isn't exactly useful most of the time...
So yeah I think we should get rid of the map on the D-pad, and replace it with a button that turns on some speakers on our dropsuits. This would be useful for warning other players about possible dangers or just asking a random for a nanohive without having to switch over to teamchat.
What do you think? |

I propose holding left on the D-Pad to toggle the proxy chat, with a confirmation from the chick [or just SOME audio que], and a simple tap to toggle your Push to Talk.
+1 by the way. But not for the removing of the map key, as that's just terrible in my opinion. A lot of people use the map [including myself], and I'd be a little more than mad myself if we couldn't access the map. |

Four chat options from left d-pad 1) chat on, tapping switches to channel. holding and left stick(like inventory) to select channel 2) punch to talk, quick tapping cycles through channels 3)chat toggled on/off by tapping left d-pad, channel changed from chat menu 4)chat on, push for alt channel, change channel from chat menu
All four modes could be selected as active from chat menu where push to talk on/off is now.
External speakers(mag type proxy) and proxy(team mates near by only) could be new channels available with uvt. Having a channel combine proxy and/or external with selected channel and speaking on both at once could be new aur item.
Aur option to play a sound file over external speakers could be another aur upgrade option. A tank driver could play some music from tank, like oddball from kelly's heros, for psychological effect. Aur cost above uvt would be needed to cover ccp's extra bandwidth costs, since it would be an extra streamed sound channel.
The map should stay, still useful to select rally point or distant objective or find enemy tank on map. Map opening also resets the ads button still opens neocom bug. |

Boom. Squad commands. I thought Dust Uni was educating their players? Sometimes the quick commands don't like to actually target, so people use the map. Plus if you're downed, you can put orders up via the map.

Sounds pretty good, but I really dislike the idea of having to use Aurum to use proxy. One of the major supporting reasons behind proxy chat is to get the community more together, and to allow you to talk with your team. Having to pay for that right practically nulls the actual reason it was implemented in the first place. Hell, UVT is already a pain enough with not being able to use your corp chat to actually chat with your corporation [not counting typing]...
However, I think the AUR option to play something over external speakers on a vehicle would be hilarious, if annoying at times. |

MY GOD, YOU TARDS.
YOU UNDERSTAND THAT WHEN YOU PRESS START, IT DOES THE SAME THING AS OPENING THE MAP?
TO SET OBJECTIVES OUTSIDE OF THE MAP, HOLD R2 AND PRESS THE RIGHT JOYSTICK. SELECT THE ORDER YOU WANT TO USE AND PLACE IT.
IT ISN'T THAT HARD.
All caps, so you can old folks can read it clearly. |

All caps, so you can old folks can read it clearly. No **** Sherlock, chill out. It's just nice having the mapping to the down key because it's been that way for so long. Plus, if I'm not mistaken, hitting Start brings up your Neocom too automatically, which adds to you being oblivious to your surroundings for a touch.
Also, so you can read...
THIS IS A THREAD ABOUT PROXY CHAT. SO PLEASE DIRECT YOUR CONTROLS OF THE DUST 514 SQUAD COMMANDS AND THE ABILITY TO ACCESS THE MAP TO ANOTHER THREAD. WE ARE SPECULATING ON USEFUL FEEDBACK AND NOT HOW TO RUN THE COMMANDS OR ACCESS THE MAP.
Thank you. |

I wouldn't mind as long as it' s push to talk. I don't want to hear some fat kid's breathing for 20 minutes, or someone's mom screaming telling their son to clean up their room and to get some natural light. |

Maybe have external speaker, squad and team as free set under coms menu as free, have option to switch channels with d-pad or speak on multiple channels should be aur.
clarification of what i was calling proxy and external. proxy would be heard by all friendlies in range that have any voice channel on. A option to block proxy on a channel would be nice, to prevent cross talk. external speakers would use sound effects volume and be heard in range even if voice chat is off, since it is not a com channel but sound on the battlefield. |

The way I'm told proximity chat worked in Mag was that everybody could hear it, that included enemies. I'm just saying speakers could be used to explain it and would give a reason for why it's push to talk only. But yes, the noise would come out of the screen. |
