I'm personally lost as to what to use now. AV grenades are so fulfilling when you blow up tanks and LAVs in a couple of 'nades but not every match do I see vehicles. Flux and locus can be used in more situations if you are able to know the timing of "cooking" the 'nade. |

That makes a lot of sense. But which would fit an AR best? Flux or locus? |

Technically speaking, flux have the most opportunities for use, but they won't kill anyone. Locus are generally the safest bet for getting kills, while AV could possibly earn you the most WP of the three.
I use locus, though. |

Currently, my ADV assault suit is at the CPU limit so I'm skilling into other skills to make room. I'm not complaining with the fitting I have right now though since a Dulovile with 2x complex light dmg mods wreck things easily. |

AR is really however you want it to go. It isbalmost equally effective against shields and armor so either way you could go.
I personally would use locus grenadds because they deal direct damage. (Aside from the rare buy whre the flux nade insta pops people) |

Flux or locus? depends, flux is only useful against shields but AR's strip them pretty quickly anyway, whereas locus are more adaptable, you can use them against everything. I personally would fit locus. |

Its amazing to see how quick an Imperfect player goes down after getting hit by a flux grenade.
Actually, many players have said that shields > armor so I believe most of these players stack shields. I guess flux would do it for me then. Just wish that their explosion animation was accurate with their actual blast radius. It's quite misleading.
EDIT: Nvm. Locus does more damage to armor and since it actually does direct damage, if the explosion damage is greater than shield HP, most likely that player would die too since any extra damage would spill over to the armor HP. |

With the amount of hate myself & some other dedicated meta tankers have been feeling lately, I can say with proof of experience that over 50% of non starter-fit mercs run Av on the regular...
That being said swarms and forges don't do much, but homing av nades doing extreme damage is pure scary. We all already know that ;-). Not to mention the ease of getting packed AVs.
Personally, I run Locus.

AV myself, every time I take them off I get run over by an lav, and go back to av's.
I can shoot everything else, and find myself wanting to blow up lavs far more often then I want to toss a grenade into cover. |

I feel ya. I tried a militia tank to see if tanks would be something I would be interested in skilling in but.....4 players chucking AV 'nades......my tank didn't last 6 seconds. |

@Drake435
In my personal view, any shield tank (unless possibly-rail fit) as well as the soma isn't exactly a tank :-).
The soma cannot take on a single dedicated swarmer, as such I cannot recommend using that experience as a deciding factor on whether to tank or not.
In comparison my Madruger can take on and overcome multiple tanks, a Surya, as well as Ranged AV. AV Nades seriously hurt, so you got to keep at an optimal range beyond their falloff.
It's a lot of fun, much harder/more tactical than most people think. It is expensive and requires a lot of commitment. A dedicated squad is also incredibly important.
Talk to Lurch or Zdwg, riding in a meta tank or having 1 dropped for you is a much better "test".

Primarily Locus Grenades since I learnt that cooking them off kills red dots. But for more tactical engagements I use Flux Grenades since I tend to run with a squad with atleast one heavy. |

On my AP fits I use loxus grenades, mostly for softening up heavies but if there's a group I'll chunk one their way; I'll also use them to cover my retreat if I feel I can get one off before anyone comes around the corner.
And of course AV grenades for my AV fits.
I only see flux grenades being useful if most of the enemies are grouped together and you've got at least a 2nd squad with yours. I try not to engage large groups like that unless I have a fair amount of distance between us and have cover to use |

I use the M1 locus 98% of the time, but when there is pesky LAV's, I bring my packed.
Freakin love my M1's though, getting quite good at cooked CQC killing as well. Got my own mini-orbital the other night by chucking a well cooked one into a tightly packed group of players |

I have never liked Flux grenades. Sure it obliterates shields but so does an Assault Rifle. I would much rather use a cooked Locus to take out shields AND some armor before attacking than just taking out shield. Plus, I have gotten way too many skills from the random Flux toss to make Flux a valuable option.
AV grenades are something that I have on my AV suit and one of my cheapo Assault Rifle suits. With that suit, I try to flank more than just beat the enemy to death so being able to take out the random LAV or make a tank run away is more useful.
But why do people use Flux grenades with Mass Drivers? Is it because MD's do extra damage to armor and they just want to get into armor ASAP? If that is the case, why not Flux?
Be well. |

MDs being explosive deal 130% dmg to armor.
Locus deals 70% dmg to shields
I believe those are the numbers

I prefer Flux grenades. Especially in large groups. It's like cracking open an egg. Sure it's easy to crack but now all I have to do is cook the yolk. Also you send shield vehicles and the like fleeing. |

AV. my thinking being that my AR or SMG CAN kill infantry, but locus or flux grenades CANNOT destroy vehicles.
it effectively puts a stop to the trololol LAV douchebaggery, and even if you can't take out a tank yourself, you can contribute.
more importantly they allow you to react QUICKLY as opposed to having to die or find a resupply to bring out a swarm or forge gun while the tank is rampaging through your team. |

Flux are better than locus if you're running an AR
Huge blast radius, Take down the shields of multiple red dots the armor just melts off.
From experience locust are better than flux if you're running a shotgun if you have their shields down and their running, flux aren't doing anything for ya\
I would never run AV's on a suit made for combat fit a suit that is strictly made to take out vehicles

Flux to compliment my MD and its good for helping my squad, 1 flux in strips shields and usually causes people to panic which grants me quite a few assists.
And they are great for scaring shield tanks I have no idea if they do more damage to a tanks shields than an AV grenade but the large explosion they throw off usually scars them off. |
