Also, the CS player in that vid was cheating. An aim bot is clearly used at 5:10. (He got a registered head shot while aiming at the guy's feet? That was not lag, and it sure as hell was not skill. Bhop script + aim bot. If you think that was a great player, he trolled you quite hard.)
Bhopping like that in THIS game would make it unplayable for gamepad players. That required old-school kb/m skills.
I share your nostalgia, but these are different times. (and find some more respectable CS players to admire. 2006 was the BEST year for true cs players. By 2010, there were far too many exploiters and script kiddies pulling wacky $hit.)
Bhopping took skill, that's why it was respected. But you got scripts doing all the work now. Those days are gone. (I personally loved doing in Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. Pull off a bhop, pick up some speed, and decap someone with a vertical spin-"wiggle" somersault slash. *sigh* the days...) |

Alan-Ibn-Xuan Al-Alasabe wrote:I dunno, guys, he might have a point. If there's one good metric of skill, it's the ability to hold down the jump button the entire match. It's right up there with the ability to mash the thumb stick to the left or right during CQC. Strafing and bunny-hopping are the greatest measures of skill in any game. I mean, if we take those out what are we left with? Marksmanship, Loadout choice, Team setup, Positioning, and Strategy. In other words, a bunch of scrub BS.
Let's have more bunnyhopping! Make this game a complete Counterstrike clone!
Holding the jump button wasn't bhopping.
lol true bhopping required you to hold down a strafe key(A and D), while also holding W, and timing your jumps. You had to hit space bar just as you landed, and you turned your mouse just right as you hit the ground to guide your direction.
Don't do it properly, and you won;t build momentum. Do it, and don't guide with the mouse right, and you couldn't turn. I'm not kidding, it really did take practice. I just don't think bhopping has a place here in Dust.
The maps are too big. Even if you could do it, it wouldn't save you from a good sniper in the open. |
