So today I logged on to find that my Active Fuel Injector was turned into an Active Air Injector, as the dropship didn't take off near as fast as it did yesterday. What's this about guys? Why have you taken away the dropships main defensive module? We can't rely on our shields and armour to keep us alive because we all know how easy it is to kill a dropship when it's slugging around the map. The fuel injector module allowed us pilots to shoot away to safety and keep the AV at bay, but if it got to that stage of the game where all you're doing is avoiding swarms, forges, railguns etc your dropship is unable to perform it's duty.
What's even more frustrating is that you do this, instead of giving us WP's for pilot actions, and WP's for spawning people in with the Mobile CRU. Can you please consider this post and give pilots an incentive to play and perform our job? It's too expensive already and we get nothing back for it.

It's a shame. So many things they could've improved with a hotfix and instead they chose to screw dropships up - without telling us even. Way to go CCP. |

Agree with OP. The AB was not overpowered. Perhaps it stopped the ship from being destroyed but the ship was forced to leave the area which has the same effect as destruction. In this way the AV player or turret has done their job. Dropship has gone and been rendered useless.
IT will return but can be forced away repeatedly. I think there is balance here. |

If you think an AB is the main defensive module with being forced away as 'balance', you sorely overestimate most peoples patience.
It works... that doesn't mean it's viable long term. As a dropship pilot myself, I want a ship that can actually take a goddamn hit, not a flying paper machete. |

I said that " There is balance here". I made no mention of it being the only form or best form of balance. Only that there is give and take between attacker and target in that scenario.
I would also rather stronger ships, but it also needs balance. I would accept less offence and more defence. We will get offensive ships eventually and I personally see DS as just as the name suggests. They are insertion tools. The guns are to thin ground forces in the LZ not eliminate them and to force them to cover so it is safe to drop infantry. |

The only reason why I would see a need to change ABs was that they are looking into other aircraft which, if they had an AB, would be unbalanced (such as a gun ship maybe). However seeing as they have not released any such they the only thing they accomplish was punching DS pilots in the kitten... again. |

The active and cool down times, top speed, and acceleration have all been reduced. The silly warp effect remains in full force.
The first hurts long distance transport, but the last really nerfs the AB as a getaway tool. By the time it spools up its too late half the time. Combine that with how long it takes to activate via the clumsy selection wheel and its a real nerf. I've been hit by swarms in AB mode once last night, though I don't know where they were fired from so I can't say if they intercepted or overtook my ship. |

Yes, I find this slightly infuriating. I looked forward to playing this week but now I'm not sure I even care to reach cap. Aircraft is the only reason I play this game and if it's going to suck worse than anything else in game, the way CCP seems to indicate they want it to then I have no reason to care about Dust. |

As a tank driver I do believe they have made it very unfair since dropships are like paper airplanes as it is. If dropship pilots use the cru module they should get team spawn +25 like an uplink. Honestly pilots should have a variety to choose from by now like a fighter ship or something because now dropships cant even act as transportation without a raigun, forge gun either enemy or friendly almost instantly destroying them. Im not acting for a nerf for the weapons but for a buff for dropships. And for the brave pilots that will put in shield transporters and remote repairers to help keep friendly vehicles alive they should be getting something like the triage +25 like a logibro would get. Not only does this help encourage teamwork but an incentive to use these modules. I remember when Mike Molle used his repairing dropship he was able to help repair my tank and then use the fuel injector to back off and stay alive |
