All the best scams start out as legitimate trustworthy people ... until years down the line and they realise just how much they're holding and how many of their mates have moved on or dispersed ... suddenly it's 'why the hell not'. |

I don't have 20 billion but I'll talk to Chribba about something this. +1 The steps outlined above is a question I get fairly often from pilots who wish to start a 3rd party service themselves.
Here's the problem with that method (and also the reason why I kindly decline assisting in securing things that way).
In the scenario where I am holding collateral for said person to conduct 3rd party trades themselves, they are really not providing the security needed, I am. Seeing as in the end I am still the one holding the collateral. My view is not only about safekeeping assets, but also to ensure that neither party gets scammed, regardless of if there's collateral that covers it.
Hence, if Mr Kane goes rouge and steal 20b and I refund the victim, my service still failed as someone did get scammed, and one party got away with ISK/assets they shouldn't have gotten in the first place.
Add to the fact, that I have very little way of verifying things myself since I'm not involved in the trade itself (I'm just somewhere in the background with collateral) is a big reason why I do not secure other 3rd parties.
And seeing as I cannot control another person, I could not guarantee said person do not attempt to scam someone, which is essentially the ground for how I run my service, to ensure that involved parties are secured and feel comfortable.
(also ponder that I hold 20b in collateral, and the person under me decides to do two 20b trades at the same time and scam, that wouldn't be collateralized, there's more trapdoors around as well with various degrees of risk)

Honestly after playing with Kain and talking with him I couldnt imagine him screwing people over with something like this. But people can believe what they want to believe. Kain has done more for Dust than any other single person. Heck I would argue that in some ways Kain has done more to advance Dust than some Devs. |

From what I've seen, and granted I've only been around since November, I would say Kain has made great strides in promoting the community and has obviously put forth great effort to mesh the EvE/Dust community together in different ways.
Now you are talking about hard earned currency for Dust players, where it is not necessarily easy to acquire/save a lot (contrary to EvE players)
You are now asking the Dust community to notice all the deeds you have done (hats off btw, I know the time and effort it took and continues to take) and to place their trust in you.
for some, this may work, and I am in no way insinuating that anything shady would occur, but being an 8 year vet from Eve, I'm sure you undoubtedly know about all the politics and how the smallest of things can alter the course of something big.
You are associated with a corp that regardless of skill/teamwork/success etc. is by majority standards disliked in this community.
that affiliation alone I believe will prevent most players from ever considering this as a legitimate, viable option.
And no I'm not trying to bash or anything of the sort. There are a number of Imp players I have tremendous respect for, but Image is everything in a community such as this, and I don't see that image (simply through association) to be changing (for the positive)anytime soon.
good luck in your venture regardless, and I hope you can prove me wrong. I just know how communities can treat a group and the effects of that for the individuals associated with them.

I agree that I will have to continue to earn and maintain trust for this service to go anywhere. I feel that there is going to be a need to engage is these types of transactions between corporations and alliances until CCP can institute a contract market and I'm no longer needed. I really hope that the day that a service like this is no longer need will come sooner rather than later.
Coming from Eve, reputation is one of the most valuable assets you can have. I hope that some of my actions have proved that reputation has translated over to Dust. As I've said before, this will be an independent entity. Transfers will not be restricted by corporate or alliance affiliation, much as the Dust OB channels have been maintained.
I look forward to continuing to earn your trust and hope that players, corps, and alliances wlll find value in the services I provide. |

That's fine you don't have to have heard of me. I'm glad when anyone helps to further the dust community, especially when it is something that drives the community to action. |

Rasatsu gets a +1 from me, and Mr Kane Spero will have +1 from me if he follows through on this promise. Also, from the encounters I've had with him, I'd be inclined to take him at his word. I don't know him well enough to trust him with a large amount of ISK in the first instance, but I might work towards that if I end up needing such a service in a smaller transaction. |

A quick update. I'm looking into using this service for entities interested in exchanging their Eve ISK for Dust ISK since I have gotten questions regarding that exchange. I will update you all with progress in that field, but it will depend mainly on demand.
Also, I'm currently in negotiations with the Electronic Sports League to use Spero Escrow Services to set up a buy-in tourney to start soon and end before fanfest. |
