It requires very little skill when pub stomping yes.... but go 1v1 with any good AR for example protoman kalante etc it becomes a match of skill as long as their is not a huge gear difference.

The are mostly AR, because all the skilled players likes to use a REAL gun. Not because is easy to use... Last time i check, you have to "Aim" and pull the trigger to kill things ...is not like the AR comes with an auto-aim module.

Not quite, the only difficulty with the mass driver is getting the hang of it and getting used to the arc. After that your firing a giant arcing bullet that you don't even have to hit the target with.

If "skilled" players were looking for a challenge, they'd use nova knives or melee, or pistols, or pretty much any other weapon. They're all more difficult/situational than the AR. The AR is used most because it is the easiest conceptually and physicslly. This seems so obvious, I am surprised to see people attempt to argue against it.

Very rarely does a person using an AR up close ever defeat my shotgun, and I'm not even that good with it yet. It does ** me off when I'm a long distance away sniping and get "sniped" by an AR, but then that is just a reason to find more distant cover to get kills down my firing lane. AR may seem OP sometimes but that is as others said dependent on your range and your position. If you're a decent sniper and have a good angle on the action, then you should have no problem pwning the ** out of all those AR infantry. When sniping I try to follow at a distance the infantry who are "pushing" down the map. Some maps are really ideal for sniping and all of the kills go to them, other maps are good for shotgun and HMG, others are ideal for AR. This is why I have gone with the two extremes of using a sniper and a shotgun because between the two I will often have the ideal weapon combo for any given scenario.

AR's lose stability and accuracy the longer you hold the trigger a good AR user will burst fire. HMG's gain accuracy the longer you hold the trigger and doesn't require you to reload often. LR's gain power the longer you hold the trigger and always shoot straight. MD's can engage well outside of AR range and usually drop you in 2 hits. Don't get me started on snipers that engage people from the safety of the spawn area. Soooooo SHOOOOTER whats your point?

Also, they increased the ammo of MDs last time around, and Jenza hasn't mentioned any problems. Since she's pretty damn awesome with that thing, I think she would have said something about it by now.
