It seems funny to me that while in a wide open area of the map I will get the voice message, "LDV unable to be deployed, location is not safe." Yet these RDV pilots will gladly attempt to fly around buildings and scaffolding to horrible conclusions such as the one that follows:
I see RDV's dropping like flies and crashing into the support columns all the time. Really annoying when your $1 million+ tank (if you are using one) goes down in flames through nobody shooting it down, but because the pilot dropping it decides he doesn't know how to fly and crashes.
No, he wasn't shot down. Watched the whole flight. Rammed right into one of the columns, then bounced off a building, then crashed hard on the ground. Boom.
That shouldn't cost anyone a tank. |

That's what happens when you call in a vehicle while surrounded by support columns and other dangerous structures.
The RDV doesn't refuse to come in when the location is not safe. It's a battlefield, no locations are safe. It refuses to come in when it cannot determine a location to drop the vehicle at.
If you tell it that the large flat area in the centre of four columns is where you want the vehicle, that's where it's going to go. |

Absolutely wrong or you just didn't read my post carefully enough.
I absolutely tried numerous times to call in a vehicle where I wasn't near a border, I wasn't near the scaffolding that connects to the large launch platform (objective B in a skirmish), and I wasn't near any buildings. It would have been a perfectly safe place (minus the battle ensuing) to land a vehicle. The game absolutely refused to drop it telling me that it was not a safe location. So I traveled just a bit further away to a place where it actually would accept my request and I was still not close to anything and the RDV crashed itself into the scaffolding, which then caused it to crash into a building after it bounced off the scaffolding, and then promptly crashed to the Earth. It wasn't my fault that this is where the game said it wanted to drop the vehicle. I tried over and over again to get it to drop in a place that wasn't near anything and it simply would not do it.
I am not the only one with this problem. I see numerous RDV's wrecking on that map and in different locations. It is a problem with the GAME, not me. |

Really? The RDV says "It's not safe" rather than "it's not suitable"? |

They say it is not suitable, but when you call it in the middle of the road the RDV pilot thinks putting your dropship on the corner of a box 50M away is a suitable location. |

Don't run 50m away after you call it in ;) . Or That probably wasn't yours.
Unrelated note, Someone blew it up once, landed on my lav and I exploded. Not sure if it was that or if I got hit by a swarm. But honestly, I thought it was pretty sweet. lol |

i have had many laughs at the expense of RDVs on that map... i got killed 3 times in a single battle from RDVs crashing into me... i took that as a sign i shouldnt call vehicles on that map anymore. |
