Tanks are OP. It takes no skill for some nubcake to accrue SP and sit in a tank and spawn kill. It's unbalanced when the tank is practically invincible. The "anti-armor" kit should be renamed "fly swatter" cuz that's about all it's good for. |

Coming from an LAV driver: nerf anti-armor. Any scrub with militia/standard AV can take out a decent LAV fit. |

The militia swarms that are in the free starter fit are junk and only good against barebone militia tanks. The standard/advanced/proto are much better, however, solo killing a "good" tank is still very hard because a tank isnt meant to be solo killed. When i do it, it is usually because they got overconfident or caught in a bad spot.
If you plan on using swarms as your main av choice, then skill swarm lvl 5, swarm prof 5, light sharpshooting 5, prof sharpshooting 5, and stack damage mods. However, swarms have the drawback of not doing as much damage as the forge gun. The forge is the power house in av and has its own skills to make it shine.
Or you can make a tank of your own and fit it as an anti tank. Although, you will quickly see that tanks aren't op against someone who has trained sp into av or you get caught in an av gren nanohive spam. They just aren't as common as the ar, hmg, shotgun, ... I've only put sp into skills for my scout swarm/smg fit, tanks know when i hit them and they can't ignore me. The smg also does really well when you get sidearm sharpshooting 5 and smg 5. |

My suggestion is buff OR nerf.
I don't think skills should all have to be lvl 5 to pose a threat to a tank. Not saying we should be able to solo it, but it is overpowered. To me it cheapens the whole shooter experience to be so dependent on waiting for high level gear. Some kind of functionality needs to be available to people who have chosen to specialize in something besides AV. |

i think the balance right now is the best it's ever been. tanks are not invincible, merely hard to kill and shouldn't they be? they're tanks. me and some blue dots brought down a sagaris yesterday all we had was one forge and 2 swarms. because something is hard to kill doesn't make it OP it's just hard to kill. i lose suryas fairly regularly and madragars as well.
you must realize that "regularly" is different for tankers than infantry, our mortality rate isn't as high but it hurts more when we die. when i lose a surya i lose 1,450,000 isk that's roughly 7 games profits. unless that tank survives 7 matches it isn't worth the cost. similarly my madragar cost 3 matches earnings. as it is a surya will last me a day (roughly 9 matches, or 90ish minutes.). and for that time i have an insane KD and make mad isk.
however what happens when i'm not in a tank playing god? i'm about as effective as a straight off the MCC blueberry. unless i find a good blaster install i'm useless. i'll fall somewhere halfway up the list and you wont notice i even exist... untill i call down shiva destroyer of worlds to wreck your day that is.
the difference between you and i then is perhaps that i get my isk in sporadic bursts and you get yours evenly over a long period of time.
personally i would be insulted if CCP screwed up the fine balance they're created. |

I say this as a forgegunner - I like tanks where they are now. I can rip right through pretty much any militia tank, But the gunnlogi or madrugar out there should give people a bit of challenge. If you nerf tanks you steal the rush I get from seeing someone's 200K baby go up in flames.

Then buff LAVs and/or boost the cpu/pg cost of av nades so they can't be tossed onto every fit as if by afterthought. Tanks are fine. but LAVs could use some love. |

I felt the same way as you at first. But you honestly don't need Proto anything to take out tanks, I use the ADV Swarm and packed AV grenades and I had multiple matches where I solo destroyed more than one tank a match. It's about learning how tank drivers operate, baiting them out into the open, then rain AV grenades and swarm shots. I especially like the ISK incentive they give for destroying vehicles, helps balance out the frustration (but sometimes bliss!) of having to hunt them down (one match I got 580k ISK).
It also becomes a lot easier when you are able to roll with a squad who can complement your loadout (having a buddy roll with some flux grenades while you run AV grenades, etc). |

As much as I hate getting slaughtered by tanks, I also agree. It is not the strength of the tank that's the problem - it's the lack of teamwork to take it down. Maybe default to team voice on so newbs can hear more experienced players? |

Then why I upgraded all my tanks core skills to level 5 and invested over 4.5 M skill points just for tanks and risked my 1.15 Mil ISK worth tank to deploy? |

I agree with the several players who have said that the balance is the best it's ever been ATM. I kill anything militia pretty much solo with my advanced swarms and can take out some standard tanks solo with some decent effort but anything well fitted or well driven and it takes at least one other AV player helping me, more if they're only using low level AV gear. Really decent tanks can survive a hell of a battering if driven well.
That said, shield tanks are really out-surviving armor these days, so something needs to be done for armor - but that's a whole other thread already happening elsewhere... |
