Vehicles are a huge loss in the game players whine about taking 500k dropships into the game for them to be blown out of the air or not score enough war points. I'll admit after spending probably over a month now and millions of sp I am still not happy with my heavy attack vehicle. I felt like so many war points would get me my bang for my buck but in reality i was paying a huge buck for not such a quite big bang. So how about this in order to help players save isk on their tank's allow them to insure vehicles? Just feel like tankers should be able to get something back ya know? Pay 50k to insure a 200k tank and get 100k back players who wanted to invest in their tanks say 20 tanks would have to pay around 1,000,000 to ensure them all, insuring could be the new smart thing what do yall think? |

Might as well just drop the price. It doesn't really make sense in Dust. You purchase these tanks knowing you're probably going to lose them in a battle or so. Nobody should expect to use the same tank for days on end. Being blown up fast is either because the other team is doing good or the driver or your team isn't doing good at protecting it. |

Yeah, tanks are actually quite good. Mess around with fittings, and look at tactics, and your tank WILL come through for you.
I definitely support a price drop for tanks though.
Doesn't make sense, that you call in a tank, you KNOW it's probably going to get blown up, but even if your tank helps to win that fight, your cost aren't covered by the reward.
Tanks could definitely use a price drop, or at least their gear. Just look at the price of 80GJ gear. Some turrets are worth more than the price of the tread itself. Give them a price range roughly 20% to 30% more than their 20GJ counterparts.
Tanks in general are too fragile for these prices. I've killed Sagaris and Surya running Compressed Ion Cannons with some basic tank traps (REs and Proxis) A couple of assaults with packed av grenades will eat them up. That crap hits the wallet a bit too hard and too easily.
A guy would **** 2 million ISK down the drain, in a matter of moments. Balancing is fine. Just give the tankers a break with the prices. At least decrease their general cost by 30%. That's a good margin. The reduction would still leave prices high enough that they still can't spam tanks, but low enough that it doesn't take them an entire day of free fits to make their money back. Tanks just don't perform well enough for that.
(An uber-fitted Marauder, roughly 2 million isk. 30% saves him 600k. Which is a bit easier to swallow, if he takes a loss. For a well equipped standard tank, you're looking at around 700k, with 30% you're saving that guy roughly 200k. Since standard tanks are more readily deployed, our tankers would look at about 490k in the loss of a STD tank. Which is far more reasonable, that means it would take him a game or so less to compensate loss and field another one. This would help keep tankers in the fight a bit more often in general.) |

I think this problem will be rectified once DUST leaves public matches and starts dealing more with EVE players. Yes in a public match you may only make say 200k isk, which hardly covers you 500k isk tank. But if you are being paid 1 billion by an EVE player to take a district then the loss of your tank if far more acceptable. |

Yes the contracts for districts that will come out will more than compensate any losses the corp incurs in taking the district...I can just see 500 mil contracts coming up regularly when the game is in full swing... |

In Corp matches you would decide whether or not to use an expensive tank based on risk/reward. The tank driver would also likely be "sponsored" by his corp, as well as of course having his tank protected.
In pub-matches is much the same, but if the price of a tank was low enough to make it financially rewarding even if it gets blown up... I don't know, I don't think we really need to encourage the use of tanks in pub-matches more, to be honest. On the other hand, I do see a lot op people only calling in a tank near the end of the match, to rack up some quick kills before it ends, without too much risk of losing it.
Maybe allowing people to have their vehicles "recalled" would help? You could call in a tank, but if you feel it's not needed anymore, or doesn't help, or everyone and their dog are coming after you with AV, you could call an RDV to pick it up?
I don't know, I'm not particularly for or against a generic price-drop for tanks, but insuring them does seem a bit weird. Since the risk is so high, the insurance rate would have to be astronomical to be believable.
The only difference with a simple flat price-drop would be that you would lose your insurance money if the tank doesn't get blown up and that you would be able to choose whether or not to insure it for specific matches I guess... I don't think these offer any great advantages compared to a simple price drop, yet they would need a new system to be coded... |

I think Insurance makes a lot of sense for Dust 514. In the future, we will have to purchase equipment & vehicles that cost upwards of 100 million ISK. Check out the cost of an MCC in this Trailer. Your dropsuit might cost 1 million ISK one day, and then you'll really be begging for insurance.
Implants are also confirmed as well.

I think you should also remember that one day EVE players will be manufacturing our gear... you think CCP is bad with prices?
Wait till some jackoff selling infantry gear to feed his officer module addiction... i have a feeling that we are going to be very butthurt when the eve pilots get a hold of our manufacturing.
1.2mil for the marauder tank hulls. yea im betting that will go WAAAYYYY up. |

Insurance would be awesome
i think it needs to be balanced however, say, 20% cost of fittings and only covers 12 hours...something like that. |
