As it stands the laser rifle cause's more damage the longer the trigger is held down.
I would like to see it cause more damage the longer the beam is on target.
This would involve more skill so the multiplier might need to be larger. What do you think? |

If I remember right this has been suggested a few times before and I agree I would love to have this as well. Shooting in the ground to heat up the weapon always seemed silly to me. |

I use a laser now and again and I agree with this. The suggestion benefits skill over just heating up the weapon and doing random swipes.
Though I think that there should be a tad room for error between going off target and back on given the terrain and opposing player movement. A buffer of a second or so before the damage starts going back down again. |

I think that would be a pretty big nerf in the long run, considering the laser never gets a passive damage boost from its proficiency skill. |

For example (this is just an example), it could take 2.5 seconds of hitting a specific target for the Laser Rifle to increase the damage the same amount as it would be to fire blankly for 5 seconds. The Laser Rifle can still be very good at what it does, but it's more fair to those that get hit during the end of the laser stream but only for a very short amount of time. |

This would involve more skill so the multiplier might need to be larger. What do you think? But how would this make sense( lore wise) the laser rifle get's increased damage as the heat out put increases the longer it's fired, how would it make sense that it only builds up extra damage when on a target. |

It's hitting an energy shield?
I dunno, figured I'd throw it out there.

That actually works. That, to burn something, it would need to build up heat on that particular object, not the beam itself. |

but the laser beams are beams of energy, growing in intensity as the output lattice heats up, untill the trigger is released or the [painful] emergency vent keeps the gun from melting in your hands.
meaning... just because it takes time for heat transfer, that time shrinks the hotter one thing is than another. it would still hurt regardless |

CCP could make up whatever reason they wanted to have this work. What matters is what is best for the game and those playing it. |
