Granted your comment/request may come from the basis of being a joke, but this is a joke that I am unwilling to participate in. I find the comment to be troubling considering the long term affects of your request in the further entrenching of sexist behavioral patterns and the entrenchment of such behaviors in the already predominantly juvenile population that tends to pollute these forums.
Do yourself a favor by taking a moment and think about what you said in the context, "would I make such a suggestion in person, to your mom, your grandmother, your aunt, your sister, your daughter, or your niece? Would you ask this of any woman that you claim to have any shred of respect and understanding for? Would you make this request if you were fulling aware of the affects it has in the process of justifying dominant and violent behavior towards women by men?"
Maybe then you would take a moment, hear a LOUD POP!, which would indicate that your head has made it past the second sphincter, which itself loudly tells you that your head had been appropriately removed from your butt.
The lack of foresight in some people's comments are astounding to me at times, yet I never seem quite surprised by human stupidity. |

Actually the fact that no one is allowed to critically comment and observe the premise behind such comments is what I find more disturbing. The joke only goes to help negate the seriousness of the comment while continuing the entrenchment of such poor behavior. The fact that you have come in and attempted to bash those that are interacting with the comments, and their appearance of any applied thought and reflective understanding is another matter, though separate in some regards, that is connected to and assists in the perpetuation of those behavioral patterns that justify the continued marginalization, repression, belittlement, and oppression of women in the eyes of a patriarchal sociocultural construct.
Take these comments how ever you wish, take them as condemnation, justification, or judgement. These are observations in the context of a small shred of reflection. Something that I would give you advise in trying out every once in a while.

You are not helping matters here Eris. Even jokes can be in bad taste and social context. Obviously you may have been born from a test tube or without women in your life if you can stand by and defend this lack of forethought. Yet another person that makes me sad because all I can think about is how a number of you people are just OXYGEN THEVES. Stop taking O2 from people that really need it and deserve it. |

Thanks guys! So... I want man-thong armor, cause if we're going to be exposing female skin then gender equality demands we also get to expose make skin. This is, obviously, not at all part of a strategy to do some psychological warfare.
As long as there is a consensus between the women, I am willing to make my model less clothed and the female avatars more clothed for the sake of equality. The thing is, that is not the case. And even if that was the case, all it would do would be to promote the continued objectification for the commodification of a fragmented human body for the purpose of some else's profit and entertainment. And this entertainment and profiteering is always done at the expense of some else's self esteem, and then how they project and perpetuate those normative behavioral patterns that continue these form of interactive patterns that will allow the conditions of marginalization and discrimination for the purpose of exploitation.
I am saddened still by the blindness that have been exposed to by the participants in this forum. |
