However, if you had managed to read the original post instead of simply enjoying seeing words appear next to your portrait, you would see that I wrote 'Americas".
This includes the USA, Canada (which is better, bigger, and on top), Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, and a BUNCH of other countries across TWO CONTINENTS... plus some some islands... some of which are actually OWNED by European nations.
So yeah.... please forgive two continents from wanting to be included in live events. How rude of us! |

Why would Canada have any different time zones that the US does? We're literally RIGHT ON TOP OF YOU!

I think people are getting away from the point. The system in place is leaving out a large player base, it doesn't matter who, it matters that it is happening. Making matters worse, several mercenary matches do go on over eight hours. In fact its common. This shouldn't work this way, if you run a game world wide, treat the world equally. |

Now am starting to get a sense of what it is like to live in EU and or other parts of the world that see later releases of games, higher prices for games, and unavailable games and items in the Playstation Store...
I too am starting to get annoyed at being shut out from these events just because I live in USA, have a job and don't have to ask my parents for money to spend on AUR...
Is there any reason this event needs hands on oversight from the European offices of CCP? Do they need to individually hand craft each mercenary battle?
It would be really nice if they could just set some up and let them run over a 24 hour time period. |

Thank you for getting us back on point, I appreciate it.
Though, as OP, I have the right to go off on a tangent if I want to.
But yeah.... of the past 3-4 events, NONE have been at Americas (north and south) friendly times. |

Yes, the DUST Devs need to hand-load every battle manually, because they do not have a system in place to do it automatically. This is slightly different than EVE, where Live Events happen within the sandbox and not over the course of a number of PVP matches. So technically, DUST Live Events could run for longer, once a system is in place to allow that to happen. CCP Eterne has already said as much in another thread, as well as promising that future Live Events will be more inclusive to a global audience.
But as for right now, DUST Live Events are limited by the resources that the Beta has, which means that at the moment the best the Devs can do is manually start every mercenary battle within a normal work day. In fact, they're actually staying after for several hours after the work day to increase the Live Event Window (10:00 p.m is when the event ends) so we can see that they are indeed trying to give as many people a chance as possible. |

Also, seems like there's enough time for most of the US to get in on the first battles in the morning. Die in a pool of acid, regardless of the topic, just do it. |

Yeah, he said this in the first Live Event thread, when people were complaining that the Americas were excluded. That was 3-4 events ago.
Still waiting for some action on this.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.
CCP Eterne wrote:The spread of times is basically as much as we are capable of doing now for manpower reasons until we get better tools to run the events.
However, we're aware not everyone WILL be able to participate so we're looking at options to expand the ability of people to get limited time items.

I think the problem is the continental drift that set the 2 Americas far from all the other continents. You can talk with Earth core for a different position in the future. |

I have to say this is the dumbest thing I heard (about stuff needed to be manually set up) if true.
In this age???? You go about creating an online game which caters to a global community and you havent figured out basic parts of your infrastructure yet Not good.
If this is the case though, why not just have employees work in shifts for that day to cover a 24 hr period.
I live in this timezone (Caribbean) and I did miss the last set of stuff and will be working during these hours but whatever - that is cool, the reason (if true) is truly lame. As a company I wouldnt make that known.
Here is hoping they quickly overcome such obstacles and deliver much better content. |

So, I showed up in support of this thread, pointing out that, while not a problem for myself, and not as severe a problem where I live as it is for the Americas (and apparently the difference between "Americas" and "America" still needs to be rammed down some people's throats), there are people who, for various reasons, WON'T be able to make it to the event because it's running from 1am to 9am here, and a similar timeframe in a few other countries in the area.
Sorry if you thought I was saying this was as bad for us as it is for you - that's not what I intended. I even specifically mentioned that it fits quite nicely with my personal availability. But I still think that limiting things this way is a bad idea, and I still think that the infrastructure needs to support WORLDWIDE access better than it currently does.
But thanks for make me think less of you, Naturi Riclenore. Maybe take a page out of the OP's book and be POLITE to someone who's supporting your argument in spite of being in a (slightly) easier situation than your own. |
