See, this is the thing that these tank people never talk about. There is a reason why you are rolling in a tank. They absolutely own the field. There is a reason why on some skirmishes you hide them out of bounds (especially the defender side of Line Harvest Skirmish so that nobody can hit them and have 3-4 snipers sitting there next to you and probably are one yourself. Because if anybody does manage to find your tank sitting there with a swarm launcher, you know as infantry I can't hit you and you get an easy shot on a Heavy, slow moving target that can't hit you and if it comes any closer will time out and die in the out of bounds marker.
They don't tell you that they go 20+/0, 30+/0 and even seen them go 40+/0 on some maps. They don't tell you that they get together on Manus Peak Ambush and roll 3-4 tanks at the same time.
And yes, I've seen tanks die at the hands of stupid drivers. Driving it head first into a building in the middle of 3 other tanks isn't going to end well. No disrespect to a person who can drive one skillfully around a map and not run it into terrain that will make it get stuck or get damaged. What I don't like and I think is absolute garbage is trying to tell me that tanks are not powerful enough, and that infantry stand a ghost of a chance. I call BS on that and I am sure there are many out there that will agree with me. Tanks do not belong on Ambush maps, esp not more than one of them at a time on the same side.
Tanks only own the field if you let them. If you've got 0-20k SP invested into AV, then don't expect to kill me all by yourself. A single advanced/prototype Forge Gun can kill a 2 million ISK shield tank in 3- 4 shots.
Seriously, you should try using a tank, it's a lot harder than you think. It takes a lot of SP, teamwork, tactics, and skill if you really want to be successful with it.
Btw, I've seen infantry guys that consistently go 18/0 or even 25/0 in pub matches, I guess that means they're OP too. |

Nope, everything does not kill me. I might not be pro, but I am good. I have fun, even take out tanks, but they destroy my ability to get Warpoints in a house(HAV player) always wins manner.
The key is what do you do with one clone versus anyone else does with one clone. Why does everybody else have to change/adapt to deal with you. But an HAV player does not. That is the issue. You didn't say why your one clone can do everything/practically self sufficient.
You don't see the issue of telling other players to change and adapt to you, while you just use your one HAV?
Classic problem, not even unique to FPS genre...
The reason why people have to adapt when someone uses an HAV is because #1 That's what it's supposed to do and #2 You can't have an all-purpose dropsuit that can deal with any situation that arises. if you want #2 then you could always play this wonderful game called Call Of Duty.
Tank drivers also have to adapt to the battlefield too. Unless i'm playing against a team full of noobs, i have to worry about Forge Gunners, Orbital strikes, AV/Flux grenadiers, and even other tanks. I have to be in constant communication with my squad otherwise i'd be at a higher risk of getting blown up. Remember, it only takes about 2 - 4 shots from a decent forge gunner to take destroy a very well-built shield tank.
Believe me, using a tank is harder and a lot riskier than most people think. If you're making a profit from tanking in pub matches, you've got to be incredibly good. |
