I would like to suggest a dropship support weapons one for shields one for armor.
I think this will give drop a alternative way of being employed within the battle field, in stead of just a horrible attack derpship
These are just a rough idea and can be tweaked.
it would shoot a single shot of either armor or shield repair module that once it hits the ground cast a dome that repairs friendly units within the radius of the dome that only last a certain amount of time and has a cool down before it can be used against.
Eg. Radius: 6m Armor repair : 20 - 45 per second Active: 6-12 seconds Cooldown: 16-20 seconds
This is just an example, and the number should be reworked so it is balanced.

I would like something to be done to give a purpose to using dropships and giving the pilot an ISK return. I like Cortez's idea for support.
As the game is at the moment, once you call in a dropship, you're ISK efficiency is already reduced. Since wp aren't generated by dropships except by their weak guns. I'd be ok with weak guns if there was a way to generate wp through support, such as the support idea Cortez suggested.
All vehicles should be as useful as the HAV with potential to gain as many WP. |

Dropships don't need any other weapons, high/low slots or increased HP, what they do need is:
-Passengers to be able to repair/fire from the dropship in flight, either with the bay doors open or closed. (having the doors closed would protect your occupants but reduce their field of view.)(also repair tools should be able repair shields and armor at the same time, just have different models that are better at repairing one over the other.)
-The pilot should actually be able to open/close the bay doors, being able to shield their troops from fire. (bay doors should no longer passively open when close to the ground, it should be up to the pilot to open and close them.)
-Bay doors should conceal turret gunners when closed. (the dropship turrets are not manually controlled but rather controlled by a computer screen operated by the gunner. just like a tank, so why are the gunners vulnerable on a dropship?)
--+reduce the amount of impact a hit causes to the dropship, causing it to be more stable while under fire.
I don't think these options are either too much to ask for nor are they going to make the dropship overpowered. |

Madd greazy, I agree with some of your points, about opening and closing the bay doors, and I will support it in the thread you made. But please don't "hijack" my thread. It distracts from my OP, that is all I am going to say on the matter and expect your understanding
And yes bojo, but not limited to vehicles and instead a targeting units it is a projected unit that repairs teammates the within a area of effect for a short period of time that is controlled by the gunners not the dropship pilot.
Btw this is Che Cortez main account, I didn't know it was set to the alt when I posted

In the promotional videos, Dropships are seen transporting shields to vehicles. Looks cool, but in game, that would be suicide and a waste of a large amount of ISK. I've just decided to start calling them dropshits for what they're worth at the moment.
I'd like to see something like you mention, equipment/weapons that can only be fitted to dropships. Like cranes/tractor beams to pick up and redeploy vehicles (friendly or enemy), and deployable modules/nanohives that are more substancial. Think of ammo drops that could be resupplied at HQ in the red zone, and WP for people supplying from them. |

I'd love to drop some 20gj blasters for people to use on chokepoints, and get WP from their kills as assists. I like every single thing you just said. Another idea, add a remote rep turret to the dropship, something which works just like a normal remote rep tool except it has a far greater range, and it would be manned by the door gunner.
Also, I just wanted to mention that I ONLY call in dropships on skim junction any more, as it's the only map to provide adequate cover and give me options of where I want to fly. |

I agree with all of you to some degree. DS are next to useless at the moment and the need to start sending WPM or way. For the mobile cru alone. I also believe it possible for the driver to be the one to use the alt off or def turret like you suggested. Dropping off infantry support is Assn excellent way to populate the skies with Ds's

being able to drop things like larger nanohives and small deployable turrets like people have mentioned would be a great idea!
Maybe a dropship could even have an equipment slot like a logie, but instead of having to resupply it at base, have the dropships equipment have a coldown timer, like 2 minutes or something reasonable so it's not overused for WP farming.
If they did this then they would have to add a skill to make large scale nanocircuitry available, and then have the same kinds of nanohives available now just resupplying at a faster rate, and lasting much longer. and of course larger.
I would't even go as far to say that it should be restricted to dropships only either, I think this would be a great idea for logistic LAV's or maybe even all vehicles in general. But restricting it to only dropships and logistic LAV's would probably be the best bet. |
