I ask this because of the Scout suit description and its hint at optical camo. |

well there are some things like
spec-op ships can only get there bonus with a stealth field
but in theory ANY ship can use the stealth field so long as they have enough cpu and power grid to fit it
there is ~ the T3 ships who can be built to get different bonuses based on the things you put in it
but at the end of the day what Thrawn01 said is true

Ok.
I'm was just wondering because I don't think I'm the only who thought that optical camo would be a module. But after reading the scout suit description, it looks like optical camo is already built into the suit itself. |

Laser Raven... wait what?
And camo scouts would be fine... activate, speed is halved, and it works for... a min? slower you move the harder you are to see
wtb stealth tank/ dropship
Edit: Dreadnaught class capital ships can go into what is called siege, carriers can activate triage... both need modules tho |

If it works like in eve, it will need a modual still to control it. The modual will likely need 800cpu or something daft, but the scout suit will have a bonus to 'active camo modual -95% CPU need'.
Means that they can put it as a normal high slot, but that other suits although they will be able to fit it, they won't have sufficient CPU to deploy with it |

Black ops, covert ops ships are main ones who's primary roles are governed by a module. only a cov ops ship can fit a covert ops cloak that allows you to warp while cloacked and only teh black ops ships can fit the jump portals as far as i remmeber, but its been a good few months i've been on eve properly and not just skilling up |

Impossible, drakes only have missile slots. Of all the ships you could have picked...
I suppose you could have a laser raven.

So maybe all suits can equip cloaking but Assault, Heavy, and Logi have to stand still for it to work, while scouts can move while still cloaked? That would make a lot of sense since the description said the scout suits have "adaptive camo". |

Or any suit can equip a cloak, but only Scouts can sprint while cloaked, and Scout suits get massive CPU/PG cost reductions for equipping a cloak module.
If, for example, a cloak module would normally require 50CPU and 100 PG, that would make it difficult to fit on most suits. But with the Scout's bonus, it might only cost 25 CPU and 10PG or something else that makes it significantly easier to fit because the suit is designed for that tech.
It's important to note that the above figures are totally made up on the spot by me right now, and probably won't reflect that actually PG/CPU costs of the module, but you can probably see what I'm getting at here. |

Chances are there will be several cloaking devices as in eve. you can fit any of the standard cloaks to any ships as long as cpu and pg allow it. the standard ones (prototype and improved) allow you to move while cloacked at a reduced speed (upto 90% speed penalty) whereas the cov ops cloak has 99k cpu or somthing crazy, the cov ops ships come with a role bonus to reduce that by 99.9% to allow it to be fit onto the cov ops frigates as do the stealth bombers for torps.
what will happen is there will be a lv1, 3 and 5 cloak and the scout suits will have a role bonus or skill bonus per level that will increase movement speed while cloaked per level and maybe even have a role bonus of reducing cpu/pg of the cloaks themselves so you can use the better cloaks only on scouts. u may get one on a logi but its movement speed will be say 1m/s and not have cpu/pg left to fit anything else and the proto will probably allow you to move faster while cloaked than uncloaked as the stealth bombers do (25% faster cloaked) so it fits its role bonus. battleclinic have a list of other suits from various inventory rips ect which show a black ops suit and these wll more than liekly be the ones who use a cloak and have the role bonus of a higher sprint speed while cloacked than the standard suit. maybe the cov ops cloack allows you to sprint while cloacked whereas standard just allow general movement and will decloack if you attempt to sprint or come within several meters of another player making it so you have to go round the edges |

scout suits have built in sensor obsurfication.
IE Sensor cloaking
As for types of cloaking I would rather much have sensor stelath over visual sealth.

I get what you're saying and I'm are of that, but the scout suit description specifically talks about optical camo. I would love to have both. |

I think that it'd be cool if the cloaking system was designed in such a way that it increased your scan signature so dramatically due to incredible amounts of computation required that it would cause a slight scramble on the scanners. Then, you would be able to see and know definitively that a scout is inbound and cloaked, but would have to rely on your eyes to attempt to find him. |

As for inherit abilities. There is nothing activate-able on eve online ships, however some ships have built in accomidations for activatable modules such as jump bridges and cloaks. |

This is somewhat true. Some modules can only be fitted to certain classes of ships.
For instance Jump Portal Generators can only be fitted to Titans:
http://games.chruker.dk/eve_online/item.php?type_id=23953
There are other examples (Strip Miners, etc.) and I suspect that CCP will similarly limit certain modules to certain specialist suits. |
