So my friend and I were in a squad together on a map we don't do particularly well so I decide it is time to test my piloting skills. I tell my friend to not come along for the ride because I figured I would kill myself by wrecking since this is my first flight. What I didn't know is just how much I would actually kill myself.
So I am flying around and I am actually turning and moving forward and backward rather well. I am starting to think, "Hey, this isn't really as bad as they said it was."
Unfortunately for me it was time to land the aircraft and this is where things went horribly wrong. The ship went down out of bounds and exploded on impact. The zone countdown had already started while the ship was in the process of crash landing. BOOM! Fire and explosion everywhere...but I am not instantly dead. Nope, I am bleeding out. So being the one intent on TESTING things, I said to myself, "I wonder what would happen if the zone timer runs out before I bleed out." When the clock counted down to zero I had my answer.
Not only did I die from the impact and bleeding out, but apparently my corpse committed suicide as I bled out and time for the zone border expired. The game physically counted that as two deaths for me, costing my team two clones instead of the one.
I don't think this is how it should work. |

The timer on the red zone is an automatic process to ensure that mercenaries do not leave the contractually designated burn zone. I don't think that the kill-switch actually cares whether you're alive or near-death. It just wants you to stop being conscious outside of the area you agreed to fight in. |

SMDS
SMDS is a growing problem all across New Eden This epidemic needs the attention of all New Edens citizens. SMDS has been the cause of countless deaths, vehicle destruction's and Rage-Quits. Look around you, chances are two out of every two Mercenaries has been a victim of SMDS, and two out of each of them will fall victim to SMDS in the near future. The key to beating SMDS is knowing the signs and symptoms.
Meet MercMcGee: MercMcGee is your everyday average merc spending ample time on the ambushes and skirmishes. He utalizes an average mic, a standard issue dualshock controller and sits upon a comfy chair. Unhindered by noise, family and outside influences he devotes his attention to the battlefield. He fights with his friends, killing enemies and occasionally friends. WIthout warning, SMDS strikes. What can MercMcGee Do?
MercMcGee could watch for these Signs and Symptoms.
1. MercMcGee has Died 2. MercMcGee commits suicide while walking alone, unhindered and out in the open 3. MercMcGee's veichle explodes and no kill is awarded, no flames were present and he was not moving. 4. MercMcGee spontaniously falls through the ground and finds himself in the abyss. 5. MercMcGee spawns deep into the redline (This is a common form of SMDS that takes more time than the standard SMDS yet almost always results in death.)
Though there are many forms that SMDS can take, it is not invincable and will one day be stricken into the book of the forgotten. Have faith and persevere.

Half to the condition of SMDS should be reported in the Map Feedback Forum.

Just saying.
Grid numbers are in the JPEG.
Include your Region (NA/EU/whatever), GMT (date/time), Corp or Public Battle, The Grid location where the map problem happened and enough of a description that some third party (that looks exactly like the QA person or the Map Designer) can have a chance of finding it. |

What part of already being dead upon impact (meaning I need to be rezzed) did I not state earlier? I can't very well just get up and run around when I am already officially dead and can't move. Nor can I really expect a medic to come running in to the timer zone to revive me because they and I would most likely die again.
One death should equal just that. I've already died because my dropship crash landed and blew me up. Bleeding out to death should have been the only death. I should not have "died" again due to my bled out corpse being timed out before the "select a drop site/respawn" screen came back up.
I mean, how can a corpse commit suicide?

Please specify whether you've bled out or not.
Does "dead" mean "I need to be rezzed" or does it mean you are waiting for the respawn screen?
You shouldn't be able to die once you've bled out, but you can be terminated by the red zone if you still have "Respawn or call medic" on your screen. |

Okay, let me rewrite this.
Flying drop ship.
Crash land out of bounds, zone timer already starting.
I am bleeding out but not dead yet.
I die (bleed out). Have not hit the respawn button yet because I am curious.
The timer gets down to zero, I have now committed suicide....even though I am already dead.
1 crash = 2 deaths for 1 person.
I do not die the rest of the match, this incident counts as two deaths for me and costs my team 2 clones = problem. |

Had this happen to me yesterday.
I was shot just outside of the ambush map on the red border. The redline timer continued to count while I waited for a revive. When it hit 0 the timer reset back to 20, and like the OP said the kill feed said I commited suicide that counted against my team clone count and counted as a death in the stats, and probably also cost an extra dropsuit. Hitting 0 and the suicide did not bleed me out though. When I pressed o to bleed myself out it counted that death like normal to clone count, stats, and dropsuit.
Technically if the bleedout timer is longer than 20 seconds it is possible to get 3 deaths against 1 clone.
Oh, and if Mercs are not supposed to go outside the redline, tell our flacking RDV pilots to stop dropping our stuff 50 meters deep into the redzone. |

by 3 deaths I mean 3 clone counts and 3 dropsuits as well. Not just stat deaths like you get when revived over and over. |

Wow, 3 deaths, hadn't done that one.
Well, regardless of whether it is two or three, it should only be one. Kind of like the Highlander.
So...what's the fix on this issue.

Awesome, thank you very much to looking into this problem and giving us some information about it. Glad to see the DEVS taking these reports seriously and working on the issues. Makes me feel good that people care about this product. |
