They keep promises they have a ton of features already done but not deployed yet.
They orginally said the top down RTS feature would be out by November of last year. I think they are working at full speed to introduce racial suits now, which used to be a feature planed for beyond 2013. They have pushed release back so far during beta by 6 months.
So my hope is they are polishing features they finished but the game testers broke in house, and they woke up and thought, oh having only 1 race per suit would be stupid. |

What all features do they say are needed before they will call it an official release?
Does this mean we can expect 15km map sizes, more guns/vehicles, or double the player count in game?
What's it all mean? |

At fanfest last year they said they would release at the end of 2012 and their would be a big expansion adding tons of features we are yet to have in Early 2013.

Never trust CCP with dates. Ok, I'll give you that.
What I do trust them to do is engage in pioneering efforts that take us completely off the map of the known world.
Sometimes when you're pioneering like that, kittenpoo happens, and all of a sudden you find yourself in a situation where you've gotta cut, set, splint and sew your own leg.
I'm thinking the tranistion from CARBON to Unreal 3 was something of that nature.
But here we are - still kickin'. |

Money spent is permanent. The beta label is just a shield from reviews. What is YOUR definition of release? |

The best thing about CCP's development model is that their games are in development forever. This also makes it difficult to draw a meaningful distinction between "open beta" and "release" from a player perspective. For the coders it matters, but for us the difference between the next beta build and one of the many free expansions we're going to be getting over DUST 514's lifecycle is pretty transparent. |

It's a commercial release and is considered a live game. Who told me this? Why Sony Online Entertainment of course. Even if ccp just changed the wording in the merc pack purchase agreement it doesn't effect merc packs already purchased. It's just like buying a car under 5 year warranty. Then the car company changes all the warranties to 3 year. If you purchased yours under a 5 year you still get a 5 year.
So ccp is in breach on contract here. The main thing that is keeping this from meaning anything is that we still get fair use of the aurum we have spent. Hence there is no material breach of contract. They know this and thus basically give us the ,,|,,

They let it slip a native PS4 client is not in the works yet. That means this game is a ticking clock to death. |

You paying money doesn't mean anything. You were not forced to pay money to enter the beta. And how else do you think all free-to-play games test their micro-transaction system if not putting it into the beta as well?
An example: during League Of Legends beta, you could buy characters and runes. And I can assure you that it didn't take the "Beta" label off for one bit. |

Money spent is permanent. The beta label is just a shield from reviews. What is YOUR definition of release? Mine would be release 1.0 - if the core mechanics aren't slick and polished by then imma gonna have rotten worms churnin' in my belly.
I don't even care about features, I'm letting CCP off real easy here - quality core gameplay is all i'm looking for with release 1.0
What makes it so agonizing is that we are semi released in the sense that there will be no sp reset and now we're married to the grind. But still, i know those devs are working like dogs, I know CCP, and i know i can take the beta-testing pain. As far as the money goes, i'm a big boy and am happy living with my decisions.
What gives me (rational)hope is remembering how big the iteration was for core mechanics with this build - if CCP can iterate like that again in April(or whenever the hell it is) then I'd say DUST is beginning to put down solid foundations.
