We all know CCP wants to make money. If they really want to make money they should allow us to reset our skill points and. Place them where we want for a fee. I was thinking $5. I know i would love to "respec" the 2 million SP I've accrued. I am guessing you EVE die hards will take what I'm saying as blasphemy but this would be a win for both sides. Have a important corp battle and no heavy? $5 to respec. Want to rock a suped up tank? $5. Thoughts?

Very bad idea, completely ruins the game experience, and a high level of sp invested dies not equal experience in the role. |

I thought EvE has something along those lines but I could be wrong.
I would like to see it cost more exponentially but make the first one not to expensive so the new players who inevitably screw up can get it right without too much cost. |

No that would be abused so much...
imagine... you are coming up to a corp battle and you know you will be facing people well know for tanks so instead of trying to work out a plan for the people you have you just say well lets just pay x amount of dollars now you can put every last sp into av for that match yippy skippy you crush them now that thats over pay x amount of dollars put yourself back to normal mean while the other corp is poor (real life money) so they have a disadvantage because no matter what for sight they have they can not set their skills any different
anyway ccp wants us to live with any mistakes we make |

Extraordinarily unlikely, and if they did allow it, it would be for AUR and it will not be a fully conversion 2 sp devoured to get 1back.
Now as for what is absolutely not going to happen.

Once you've maxed your primary skills, you get to branch out and learn other skills. Adding a for-AUR skills reset would totally negate the benefit of having more SP than required for your primary skill set. |

You realize what that does right? That makes the game Pay to Win. One moment, someone can be rocking a Proto Sniper but then the team gets wise and compromises his roost. He returns now as a Proto Heavy...is that fair if he only had enough SP to be one or the other but money wasn't an obstacle? You can already purchase SP, isn't that enough? |

I think there should be a skill reset once all the racial dropsuits are added (as nobody knows which suits will be best for their specific role yet). But there should not be an instant "i want to be a tank driver after i skilled into assault" option available. That would just break the game entirely. Once someone hits 5 mill SP they could effectively be ANYTHING they want to be AT ANYTIME. all for the cost of 5$ or whatever they would set it at. That in my opinion really is PTW, or at the very least itrs extrememly unfair to those who dont have that type of money to just blow around.
So in other words, yes CCP should unallocated all of the SP weve put in already once the next build comes in, but this should be a one time deal ONLY and they could perhaps make it optional. Think of it as a reward for being a beta tester. But NO we should not have the option to reset our SP whenever we like to. |

lol i think its funny you guys forget ppl will just buy farmed accounts if they want to respect and CCP wont let them. Sure its bannable but ppl will still do it like the do in eve. I dont condone it, but supply and demand ppl. And sadly thats money CCP wont see.

I have to agree with this. Right now people can only choose caldari assault. What if someone is constantly using the type 1 suit because they like armor. Then they see the gallente/amarr variations have more low slots and powergrid. It doesn't seem right to me that they don't get unallocated sp from there caldari racial dropsuit skill. Its not like eve where they add a new frigate type and everyone should get the frigate skill back. The game has been out for years and there is numerous ship types/races. This is just a beta.
If there was ever a full purchasable SP reset or some sort of semi anual reset I would quit and that's what i was referring to in my previous post. |

Really surprised an idea like this gets so little support. I don't get the OP argument either. So you know you are playing a tank Corp and respect into AV. Well what if they all respecced out of tanks for the Corp battle. Now you have one guy on your team who is little help to you. That's the chance you take. Also the $5 was just suggestions. Wouldn't have to be that low. $10 or $15 but that is the highest I would pay.
I get all you guys that have played since closed beta and been through numerous skill resets have figured the best way for you to level your guy. But guys like me who just started during the open beta are at an immediate disadvantage. I wasn't sure what suit was truly for me or what weapon I preferred so there are some wasted points that would be useful now that I know how/what I prefer.
The suggestion that the price goes up every time you do it us a good one though too so as to scare those from respecting all the time. |

@Lustmord-8
Many of us are Eve Online players who have had this debate before years ago. Since both Eve and Dust will effect each other more and more over time, it is natural that Eve and Dust players will be opposed of this idea. The point of our argument against respeccing (as well call it) is that practically makes skilling into any kind of specialty quite pointless as it takes away the feeling you get when you finally skilled up your tank skills to the maxed after grinding so much. You know, that sense of accomplishment.

I would personally pay for the ability to reset SP for a limited time. I dont think I would pay more than -ú5/10$, but if you multiply that by 1 million players, that is a lot of money
The reason I want the reset is because I have joined a different corp, and the team objectives are conflicting with around 700K of my skill points. I would like to reassign these skill points.
If this was allowed, I would suggest limits on how often it could be used. Lets say once per month only. |

Not gonna happen.
Dust is permanent since Open Beta. Live with it, just like life.
If you want to prepare for future suits, equipment, whatever - don't spend your SP. Be glad you can at least hoard your SP, you can't even do that in Eve. |

Eeeeehhh no
I like the idea of a respec. Maybe once ... maybe twice. But even at that I still don't spprove it. Too many people are going to abuse it. It's inevitable.
You can either limit the number of times you can respec, or don't implement it at all. Either way, you're going to have to live with the mistakes you make |

I agree with the concept of re-specs, but not for money. What would everybody think about a re-spec system where you re-spec for an ever increasing amount of SP?
To further explain: The initial re-spec would cost 1000 SP (SP that is permanently put into a "re-spec" tab on skills) and increase by n*5 or so. For example: you start as an enforcer, learn you suck with AR and think logi would be more your style. Well get your say 500,000 SP back less the initial 1000 SP cost.
I think this would be a happy medium since people who want to re-spec a lot, will eventually end up with millions of nonrefundable SP spent on something that doesn't help their character. |
