I hate your game. I hate it more than Halo and I really dislike that game. It's overly pretentious , totally outbalanced, and ridiculously convoluted. I tried playing this for a few hours and all I seem capable of doing is dieing repeatedly. Which is rapidly costing me money to pay for the respawns. My gun seems to do little to no damage which I guess means either the other guy has some sort of armor bonus or my gun just sucks. Which I'd probably upgrade if I could somehow make my way through the seemingly endless information about the guns I wish to purchase. Seriously it's like reading the most boring novel about a gun. This game is not for the casual player and requires more time and effort to play than I can afford to give it. For those thinking I'm just hateful you're entitled your opinion. But no game has pissed me off more so fast since Peggle. These are just my honest thoughts on the game. Good luck with your beta. I will probably never play this again. |

Well normally i would say can i haz ur stuffs but, as it seems you didnt give the game a chance and probably (like most scrubs) didnt read the help tips to get you started, you probably dont have any ISK so it wouldnt be worth it.
This isnt a game you can jump straight into and WTF PWN if you want that there is a well know game that starts with C ends with D and in the middle there is some whiney little teen who will be able to stroke your epeen for you.

I did read the tips. I get the concept. I also dislike CoD. I was even jazzed about it the game mechanics. Thought it'd be neat to "lvl" up my gear and guy. But that's a little difficult to do if you get mowed down almost instantly after you spawn. I've played MMoRPG's with less confusing systems than this. And no, I never expected to "PWN" anything. I generally suck at shooters. K/D ratio is usually below par. You're under the impression I can't figure it out. I just don't have the time. Please don't condescend me or my intelligence. |

You must have missed the part where EVE/DUST is a social game first and foremost. Joining a good corporation, which you have not done, is possibly the best thing you can do to improve your DUST experience. |

i think you have more of a case of really bad luck. when i first started, i wasn't getting insta killed after respawn. other than that, you need to give the game time. Get those skills that give you more base shield and armor. And you can never really lose so badly til you can't afford a dropsuit that's better than militia. i would also advise joining a player corp, you'll never get the full experience from a game like this if all you run is random battles. |

Start off running BPO'S and Starter Fits. They don't cost you anything if you die, so you can build up the SP and ISK neccessary to "level" into better epuipment. If you're being spawn killed in Ambush (which shouldn't really be a problem anymore with the new fix), switch over to Skirmish where you have more control over where you spawn, and continue to run Starter Fits and BPO's.
This will allow you to get a handle on the game, learn skill progession and decide which role you would like to specialize in without having to risk losing ISK in every match. When you feel comfortable with your bank account, skill levels, and overall profeciency with the game, then you can start building your own fits and experimenting with different weapons and such.
Hope this helps.
And Matobar is right. If your really having trouble and need some help, join a Corp. Pretty much everyone I've met so far in this game is more than willing to show people the ropes. Try Dust University, they actually specialize in helping new players adjust to life in New Eden. |

Odd. I thought that a King would say, "We hate your game". Possibly you are not truly a king but a pretender to royalty.

If you don't want people to condescend you or your intelligence you should maybe think about the way you start a post, I hate this game I hate it more than (insert generic FPS) is not the best way to avoid such responses.
Also you should remember starting an online game months after it became available to the general public you are going to get stomped on at the start. Especially one that is based on skills over time. |

i play, do i LOVE it? no. there are a LOTS of things wrong with this game. fan boys will arise and tell you things like 'you suck' 'get better' and then tell you you're supposed to give feedback that won't upset the 'this is the best FPS in history' crowd. this game in its current state (whether you raise the 'this is a beta' flag or whatever) does fail at many things and denying that will only encourage mediocrity, which am sure none of us players want to stick with.. or do we.. ? one last thing. i didnt mention specifics about 'whats wrong' cause all you have to do is check the rest of the forums, plenty to ponder about |

"This game is not for the casual player and requires more time and effort to play than I can afford to give it. "
that is actually true. i've been saying this since long before the beta started.
but the rest is false:
the reality is that you just aren't that good at gaming. sorry. you're not alone.
cod has been fooling you guys for so long that you actually think you can just jump into any other game and hold your own.
by your own admittance, you can't. and this is to be expected. you guys have been playing garbage gun game style for the last 10 years plus.
then a game like 514 comes along and of course you can't play it.
it's too hard for you.
that's all you had to say in your post:
"it's too hard for me. thanks"

The fact that you stated you hate Halo which IMHO is arguably one of the best FPS shooters to ever grace the gaming world (original was best by far but others were good to) indicates that you dont have much discernment when it comes to FPS games. Let me guess COD is amazing right? LOL
This is a tracking shooter not a twitch shooter or a noob COD shooter. Tracking means it takes more skills to keep your aim on target and do dmg for the length of time necessary to take out the enemy. If you are playing by yourself and not trying to or wanting to squad up with other players then you are A) going to be rofl stomped by most squadded players and B) playing this game wrong. The best thing to do is to ask some players for some starting advice as you are correct this game is more complicated than your average shooter. |

I doubt you will change your mind OP, but the above advice is sound and probably the best you will get out of this thread.
Find a corp with decent players that want to help others get better. DUST University is up and running and it can help with some of the problems you might be experiencing.

lol, I must say... There's been less bashing of the OP than I expected. Rightfully so, he's just giving his 2isk.
As others mentioned, this game has a bit different than other FPS. 1. It's a "trackingshooter", which is the minority. Most games now-a-days are "twitch shooters". Some people are good at both, some aren't. It may take a while to get used to.
2. It's a MMO/RPG/FPS, there will be a level of grinding necessary to compete against other players. Your personal FPS skill will only get you so far in this game. You need to level up your "SP" skills and get better gear as well.
3. Currently, there is no segregation of players. This means you may run into players that not only have been playing this game for almost a year (and have become accustomed to the feel) but also have gear and SP skills that make them have more than double your HP, and the ability to dish out almost 50% more damage than you. Not to mention, that their shields will regen faster, they'll sprint faster, etc etc. Eventually, there will be more of a segregation of players, where newer/lower SP players will tend to gravitate towards one section, and vets will gravitate toward another. (for the most part)
OP: As frustrating as it may be, you should try and stick with it. This game will be much more rewarding long-term than most other shooters out there.
I get your frustration, it is a challenge CCP will have. They have to try and maintain the depth that the game has, while making it somewhat accessible for new players.
To those that are thinking: "F- the new players" or "F-the casuals" If you don't take them into consideration, and at least make the game SOMEWHAT accessible to them, it will hurt the player population in the long run. |

Don't bother argue with the OP, folks.
He'll be back to Dust in a couple of months tops.
They ALWAYS come back...
No gamer worth his own system walks away from a challenge. Especially, a shooter. If someone leaves a game because it kicks them in the rear-end, at some point in the future, they come back.
They *always* come back. Even if it's 2 or 3 builds later.
The OP *will* be back. |

"And no, I never expected to "PWN" anything. I generally suck at shooters. K/D ratio is usually below par." <------- Read what you have written here. Now slap yourself in the forehead. Now for a quick class after you press the spawn button and the counter sit's on 0:00 for 4 more seconds the screen will go black for a brief moment at this point you need too perform the most used technique in the game I like to call it the spin ( catchy huh) hold the right stick to the left or right (i like the right myself) and spin baby Spin. Also helps to bump your sensitivity up a few notches. Master this and you will be on your way to killing every proto suit in sight in no time at all.

I am also no big FPS guy. My titles are things like Total War and Civilization. Eve is the major reason I am even playing this game.
That being said, it has been pretty fun. I'm in a starter corp and have gone it completely alone, thus far (though I will probably change that). Spawn killing is significantly more prominent in ambushes versus skirmishes. Try skirmishes. Try getting someone to squad with you in local chat or your starter corp chat. Most of the people I've played with were pretty cold on the SP system without a little coaching (an experienced Eve player most likely looks at the Dust skill system as Eve Jr.). Ditto on fittings.
My recommendation, though, is that maybe you should wait until later in the beta or post release to play Dust. When the game mechanics integrate with Eve, many if not most of the hardcore/pro crowd will vanish to null sec space after the big money and leave regular public matches to newbies and lowbies.
As far as personal time is concerned...that isn't this games fault. Don't start playing Total War or Skyrim or hundred of other titles that require the barest level of time commitment. I jumped right in to playing because I had a friend with a closed beta key who I had the opportunity to learn the basics from. The time investment to learn the skills in this game can be spread over time, though. SP gains passively. Leave your char for 2 months. Come back. Spend your points and try playing again with a stronger character. |
