I'll run since there seems to be so much derision among the current candidates. I know next to nothing about Eve, so why in the world would I run? I'll tell you why. 3 reasons.
1) I have been in DUST for over 90% of the closed beta, and I know it's ins and outs as well as anyone who has been in it this long. I've tested DUST almost every day without fail (I've missed a few days due to illness) since the day I started, and it has become my passion to see DUST succeed and become as beneficially integrated with Eve as is possible.
2) I am willing to lower myself into the servantile position of being the CSM for DUST.
3) I know better than most people how to seek out and use advise from people better informed than I when I come across a situation in which I find my experience lacking. I could build a cabinet of DUST players who would advise me, members who had thought of running themselves. Jenza, Shad, Jackal, Iron Wolf, plus a few other community leaders and innovative thinkers like Kain Spero, Garret Blacknova, Free Beers (he may be a troll, but you cannot deny he has a passion for seeing DUST succeed), Bad Furry (another troll, but very out of the box thinker), etc (first names I could think of off of the top of my head, but there would be many more). I would not base these choices on behavior, instead I would base my choices around people who have experience in areas of DUST that I do not, and who think outside of the box in areas where I feel my own view of the topic may be restrained.
I would use the collective knowledge of the community to become the absolute best CSM possible for DUST, using the top community leaders to assist me in collecting and refining important ideas with them using the collective of the DUST community as their assistants, so that as one community we could better work together to move forward into a bright and prosperous future for good of both DUST and Eve! Who's with me?!
For those who read through, or for those jerks who just decided to skim down to the middle of the post, I'm not really running for CSM. My lack of experience in Eve affairs would be far too detrimental to the post. However, this is how I feel a proper CSM should behave. Willing to forgo ego, cast aside differences, and be willing to work together with rival candidates for the betterment of New Eden. I see too much bickering on the issue from (some of) the candidates as well as a lot of grief pointed towards the candidates from the community itself. If you are willing to run, you should be ready to form a group of advisers with whom you severely disagree with on several issues. Only by forcing yourself to see both sides of the coin will you understand the nature of it fully.
Tbh I don't know much about a CSM other than they take the ideas of the community and present those ideas to CCP for the community. I don't know if they typically have advisers or not. However, if you are to be the best CSM possible, you will need to work together with the top minds here. Not only can they help you by helping you organize your proposals to CCP, but if you have a cabinet you can inform them of important topics they should participate in to get the ideas flowing. Their input can be the spark that lights the way for grander and more practical ideas
Just imagine if all those names I listed up there plus about 10~20 other top community leaders/big thinkers had all jumped on the topic of missile spamming back when missiles first started dropping people like they were nukes, all in one thread. They could have kept one thread running for WEEKS on the subject, squeezing new ideas out of the community. We'd have had a 100 page thread on the topic by the end of the first week! Perhaps the missiles would still be useful if the collective might of the community were put to the task rather than various ideas getting sprawled across the corners of 100 separate single page threads. If the top minds all focus on one area, with all of their differing ideas, the best solutions would be sure to surface.
Basically, I want to see candidates who have decided not to run help those who still plan to. I want to see the losers of the race get behind the one elected and do everything in their power to help them succeed for the good of DUST and Eve. I want the people who wish to be the leaders of our community work together FOR our community. If we were to judge by all of the squabbling we see though, it would seem this may never happen.
Oh, and my other reason for not running: I doubt Eve players would like having DUST players troll them with a CSM who know's next to nothing about Eve, and who's name literally draws to mind a troll face meme mocking them. |

Sorry, but you're not getting a single vote from me unless you are also well knowledgeable of Eve Online as that is part of the unwritten requirements for being on the CSM. On top of that, you also need an Eve Online account anyways.
Since you say you know next to nothing about Eve Online, you just lost my vote and I doubt anyone would vote for you into the CSM8 without the extensive knowledge that covers every little intricacy of Eve such as Sovereignty Warfare, POS management, Corp management, Low-sec life, mission running, incursions, salvaging, mining, production, market trading, spreadsheets, and politics (lots of politics). |

But I am awesome. Awesomely awesome. However, the whole reason I came up with this name is because I love to imagine what goes through peoples minds when they see my name in front of theirs on the kill feed. I picture them seeing the killfeed, a meme face mockingly passes before their eyes, then they suddenly "FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU....." eyes ablaze, and try to hunt me down. It's why I spec a Type-II scout suit with remote explosives, gauged nanohives (for grenade spamming my core grenades mostly), grenades, mass drivers and plan to pick up the flaylock when it comes about. I've found that almost nothing enrages people more than blowing, except perhaps being sniped. But that's far too easy. |

Mortal Maximus wrote:What does CSM mean o.O? The purpose of the CSM is to represent society interests to CCP. This requires active engagement with the player community to master EVE issue awareness, understanding, and evaluation in the context of the GÇ£greatest good for the greater player baseGÇ¥. The scope of issues is restricted only to EVE, its ongoing development, and limited meta (out-of-game) issues which have direct relevance to the EVE universe. It is important to keep in mind that the CSM will not have formal powers within CCP, they will have a voice inside CCP.
