I do Snipe. Most of the time flanking or second-line. I'm sure it happened to me to snipe inside redline, when red are overblocking blue. I don't want to be (and called) a redline sniper, but how could I know i'm inside the redline ? Cheers

if the red dots stop and don't come closer, try to get you, you're in the redline.
If you find yourself frequently nailed by shotguns and SMG as well as HMGs and grenades (thrown by the enemy) we are probably not talking about you. Unless we happen to be redlined and I'm in full nerdrage mode. |

That's not going to stop people from spawning on the ground or hiding behind a mountain. |

I will motivate you. Or I will destroy your fits.
You'd be surprised at how quickly many pubmatches turned back into a fight after it became clear that hiding wasn't safe either.
Oh. and Your Name Here. I'd suicide gank him for a klondike bar.

i dont mind this I can kill guys out side of MCCs(and now inside too) I would rather ccp allow us to enforce good game play our selves then making over reaching rules. as long as there is now where for you to hid in a match IDGAF. |

Only slightly.
You know there are some of us out there that are actually pretty decent at what we do. Don't paint us all with the same brush. agreed just because you cant here the sniper since team is not a default voice for all people (give us proxy at least gosh darnit) you dont know if the sniper is calling out enemy positions to his squadmates or if he's locking down an objective. (a decent sniper with a decent gun can lock down two objectives on manus peak with relative ease)
A mobile sniper can lock down 3 points if they know where to shoot from. |

I love when people rage on me for sniping.. I always check and see their 0/3+ KD and here I am at the #1 slot for our team. But! because I am sniping it's somehow a problem that made them suck? INstead of shooting at me, or trying to LAV ramming me and worsening your stats in the meantime, why not fight? Join my squad... er no. Actually, I only like people who add WPs to my squad. I don't need any butt hurt charity cases.
At least do yourself a favor and make sure the sniper you are ******* with sucks. Otherwise you are just embarrassing yourself.
It's been systemic that anytime someone messes with me when I am sniping they have far more deaths than kills and 100 WPs or so. Instead of being obsessed with how others play, why not get good yourself and help the team win? TKing does nothing to help win. But I guess butthurt nerds with nothing else to offer will act accordingly. That's cool by me! I lol at your expense :)
I don't think sitting back 100 miles away from the actual fight and in an area that cant be reached by assault personnel and just sniping at targets - makes you a good player. If you were that good and really deserved that top spot you would be in the fray where you could get shot and actually PTFO'ing. If you stay behind the redline, you are a K/D ***** and really shouldn't talk about how good you are or what you do.

Frankly it's sad that people actually care what their team-mates are doing. As long as they don't get in my way, I'm fine with them. I'm sure anyone that I could manage to get kicked would be replaced with an equally incompetent/AFK player that I would have to kill myself to remove again so HE can also be replaced by an incompetent/AFK player. |

I hate the fact that you all paint snipers under the same color. There are some great snipers out there who help your side a lot in terms of cloning the enemy and saving clones for your side and he/she is also probably working with his/her squad providing info to them and helping them out. I'm talking about the dedicated sniper who usually 1 hit kills anything that isn't a heavy or proto suit. What's the point of having a range of over 700m when all players want snipers to go into the battlefield and be at a huge disadvantage.Just remember some map are not sniper friendly where advancing into means certain death and it's not the Sniper's role to go CQC but he can take the risk in getting better positions.
The only cure for red line snipers is to counter snipe and if you can't do that have some of your sniper team members take him out. If he can't do that, he just isn't good enough. You can also use orbital strikes on a group of them, too. Killing blue dots because they are sniping is not the cure. Just back out of the game if you see half to all your team sniping is another solution. |

Let's be clear, you should not fault the players for resorting to to the strategies that they use in order to be successful. The current sniper situation is more a fault of the game than it is a player-problem, very much like AFK farmers. I do it, but mostly as a scout role than a killer one, since I don't like poeple knowing that I am "telling" on them. The few times that I aim to kill someone with a sniper rifle is when the enemy is trying to take one of our posts or when my team is going in that direction and I see it fit to provide fire-support (good snipers are force multipliers after all, and I aim to be a good scout-sniper, still a long ways to go though)... oh and the obvious sniper hunting (I was actually in a 10-minute deadlock with another sniper and we had each other pinned down from basically the opposite ends of the map, so I kept him distracted on me instead of my team).
True snipers work the same way the "red-liners" basically work, they kill things from far-far away distances and you almost never notice their presence until someone is dead. The problem is that there are many factors that a real sniper has to take into account that are not found ('represented' may be a better word) in the game. Things like wind velocity and direction, weather changes like rain and fog, and the most important one, being bullet drop (a product of gravity applied over distance).
In fact, weather conditions as physics would help both true snipers being the best of their class and everyone else into being more versatile. I'm pretty certain that a sniper is very likely not to be useful in a foggy environment, forcing him to turn to the scout/support role. Rain would basically double-nerf laser weapons (or really, any heat based damage weapon). Night would help promote the need of IR modules and builds. In the end weather conditions would even help rid everyone of all of these useless QQ threads about redline snipers.
EDIT: AFK farmers though... they deserve to be dealt with in the most extreme manner possible... and with extreme prejudice. |

I run a logi sniper - not as fast as a scout but more shield/armour & more equpment slots. I pick a spot, hopefully with cover and a clear view over the target, to fire from and set it up with a D-link and a nanohive so that others have a safer place to spawn from and can resupply. A sniper is not an up close killer but an attacker from extreme distance. Most single hits can kill low end suits outright and damage high end suits to over 50%. this trick can be of great help to the frountline fighters when the Heavy suit they are fighting is at half power from sniper fire. |

If a sniper ends up with 5 kills and 0 deaths, whilst sitting so far back all match, sure...he has been pretty useless.
If a sniper is communicating all match, whilst getting 5 kills but navigating his squad safely around the map, he's priceless.
Also, if a sniper camps far back but gets 20+ kills, he has contributed invaluably, those 20+ enemy clones were going to do SOMETHING to the rest of the team.
People honestly argue about snipers who mow the enemy down from a perch...but those 20 clones could have taken our objectives, or reinforced an enemy push, or manned rail gun installations...
Just white washing them as useless is ignorant, and killing them for your own satisfaction ironically makes YOU more of a detriment to your team...shouldn't you have been taking objectives...or at least killing an enemy clone or two?
I snipe a lot, and can quite easily rack up good K/D ratios each match, the amount of times I have turned a 3 or 4 enemy clone push into a 1 or 2 clone push is countless.

It takes two militia locus nades to do this, but don't worry. Most people don't react to this.
If you have an AFK bunny do the same! if they don't respawn manually they get booted from the match, and lose the ability to farm their SP! it's kinda like a variant of the votekick system.
I highly encourage people to enjoy this unless CCP declares it an exploit and bans it or if they patch this out.
Of course... it may be an intended feature and they had an office betting pool on how long it would take us to find it...

Congrats you found a way to not only waste YOUR time trying to change a person's ways but your TEAM aswell. You going to keep following the sniper the whole game? The one with only grenades seems to be more usless than the sniper at this point... |
