I believe these are Hybrid weapons. Hybrid weapons do equal damage to shields and armor |

I thought forge guns did bonus damage to shields, and that the plasma cannon/launcher would be the hybrid AV weapon? |

False. Hybrids do equal damage to both.
Railguns are only dangerous because of there range. IMO I don't really fear railguns and feel like blaster is better all the time. I would fear railguns if they were used on me in conjunction with other AV infantry. |

Thanks guys. Right now my dropship is scared of railguns so I need as much HP as possible to be able to survive at least 1 hit and fly away asap. |

Forge Guns standard range is optimal at 300m (max at 400m).
25% for Heavy Weapon Sharpshooting should never be forgotten if the one that hit you is not Militia or simply Forge Gun.
I can pop a Militia HAV with one clip from my Assault FG. If I miss, I might need another round. If I have any help at all (even Militia Swarms) it is gone.
Drop Ships are trouble when they book out. If I can get them when they are picking up or dropping off then it is easy pickings. Or if they are slow strafing.

Pretty sure, just to be clear, with forge guns, that when you look at an infantry's shields it says weapon efficiency is 150% i.e. +50% damage, and when you look at shieldless infantry with armor it says 100%. Therefore it is not evenly applied. Forge guns seem more like an energy weapon than a hybrid. The forge gun also resembles eve energy weapons in that their tracking is slower and their applied damage over distance doesn't have the same falloff as hybrid weapons do.
Railguns on tanks are a little different...trying to find footage of railgun tanks, but typically with all weapons damage to vehicles and infantry have totally different modifiers. And even then, where you hit the vehicles (and installations) matters as well. Example, supply depots and CRUs have a critical spot on their upper 1/4 of their hitboxes as if they could have 'headshot' zones.
Just make sure your language is right, you are probably scared of forge guns, not railguns. The counter to forge guns is manauevering more quickly than the heavy can track and getting behind cover. The disadvantage of railgun turrets is that they have zones where they cannot target, i.e., right above them. |

@Beren I'm flying a dropship. My best tactic atm is to hover above enemies so the blaster blueberries gunners kill them. Most of the time I'm getting 1 shot from either a Forge Gun or a railgun installation/tank. What I have in mind is that I tank first hit, and get to the red line asap to recover shields/armor. If what you say is true then is best to armor tank because the Forge Gun will do less damage against the armor. However armor tanking will make the dropship even slower, but I can always use an afterburner.... |

Yes i 1 shot Militia HAV's. even ones with decient shield/armor. However i should note that i am using a breach forge gun with 1 complex damage mod. If someone brings out a gunnlogi or maurader then i bring out the tech 4 breach gun and make them sweat. |

It is HYBRID damage. You were probably looking at someone's head or something.
Look at a vehicle (and not one of the weak spots) Forge is 100% damage to shield AND armor.
Anyone can call in a free LAV and make a cheap militia forge gun. |
