any chance you guys are planning on working with Sony and combining the merc quarters with a portal to playstation Home?
is there going to be a 514 ps home zone that we can enter in and out of from within 514?
it sure would go a long way toward the mmo thing you guys were claming which really hasn't shown up yet.
Give us a buncha military style emotes, like stand at attention, salute, at ease, etc. and let the non 514 players in Home into the 514 section so that it is a mix of civilians and mercs. let the mercs wear the last dropsuit they had on or assign their "fave" suit to be their Home suit. it would allow for face to face interaciton between corps and mercs and could actually promote 514 as the civies see all these mercs walking around looking badass and think to themselves "i wanna look like THAT! how do i do it?"
"well, son... first you download 514..."

at the moment it's a PFPS = persistant first person shooter.
seeing as this is a sony exclusive and seeing as the mmo element is missing then the logical progression would be for sony to chop out a section of home that could be entered via the merc quarters door.
go through there, load and walk into a giant world of mercs and civvies.
imagine the civvies seeing a clan in the middle of a private meeting where the clan is all standing at attention in formation in the public area. would look pretty cool seeing everyone in their gear. would prolly be a pretty good selling point for those out of the loop when it comes to 514.
if we are waiting for CCP to do WIS then i think we will be waiting a while.
i thought the eve players were asking for this a couple years ago.
sony has it up and running now. just gotta dump some graphic/animation work on it.

it's persistant in the sense that the wars you fight will be have a long term daily effect on the game environment. or that changes to your character will change the environment that others are playing in.
it's not even close to an mmo.
it's not massive.
it's not multiplayer enough to be Multiplayer. need platoon vs platoon minimum to be approaching the Multiplayer part. that's 32 v 32 minimum.
it is online. so i'll give ya that one.
but i'd suggest "passive skill pointing" as prime example of "persistant FPS" not mmo.
even if you are offline, you are still skilling up. and those changes you make with the points you earned while offline will effect the next match you play in, either with new gear or better stats = more dead guys. and when they implement more, things like losing districts while offline would be persistant elements as well. things take place "persistantly" whether you are there or not.
514 is not a real mmo.
sitting in merc quarters like a lab rat actually goes so far against the Massive in mmo as to almost be a lie at this point. even a window that looks out into space and shows some form of "life" taking place would be a step in the right direction.
so the easiest thing to do is just make a 514 zone in home and make it accessible from 514. and make 514 accessible via that home section and it should start to "feel" more like an mmo.
calling it a FPS with RPG elements is pretty friggin vague. EVERY game has RPG elements in some watered down form or another.
this is the first time most of the console players have seen this leveling system. pc players have been doing this kind of leveling for years. console? pff not even close. and this isn't even close to the normal grinding that's required. even this is watered down.
i would say it's a FPS with an MMO skilling system, but there is no RPG... you mean role playing? c'mon man. there is no role playing here. actually that's not entirely true but for the sake of discussion, nobody here is role playing anything. maybe best supporting actor in the "useless codboi mode" award. but no real roleplaying.
naw it's a PFPS. persistant first person shooter.
