So... I just order a new gaming powerhouse for my business ( *wink* *wink* which I will end up using to play Eve)!
Questions:
1. How do you pick a cool name in Eve? 2. What is the best way to get ISK? 3. What are the roles of salvage ships? 4. How are the covert ships?
This Duster needs to go pew pewing or salvaging in space.
Any tips/advice/0.02 would be greatly appreciated.
PS: Who wants to be my buddy? I believe if I use you as a sign up I get 30 days free and a plex. Whateva that is? |

1. I read poetry and pick two words that seem to work well together or I use magic the gathering spells for gravitas.
2. Trading trading trading. Second best is probably incursions, high end industry (trading), and exploration.
3. To salvage wreckage floating in space.
4. pretty cool, you can dart about ignoring gate camps and such.
Word of warning though eve is not dust, sp is accumulated passively, your first 2 months will essentially be waiting for skills to train. You can do some stuff but it really only gets cool once your core skills start to hit lvl 5.
I'll send you my eve character name over dust and I might be able to hook you up with some free skillbooks/ships if you end up in amarr space.
EDIT: actually I just remembered, I used salvaging to kick start my eve funds. Salvaging and rig manifacture is a great start up profession. Making money in eve is often about knowing the game well, geographically as well as systemically. Often you can make a killing just know were to put up sell orders with the right kit. People are generally lazy and you can profit from thier laziness. |

I started playing a few weeks ago, its good fun but you need to find a friendly veteran to play with. They should be able to get you started and help any questions you may have.
Salvaging is a great way to make ISK but you need to be in the right place. |

Is my buddy link. Do all of the tutorials first. Join a corp! STB has a very strong EVE side to it and we have tons of members who spend hours all day just answering questions. Go for frigate 5 soon and be patient! |

salvaging common wrecks is good for about a week and then it becomes a time sink where you actually loose isk per hour, because you could be doing something more lucrative than salvaging. the only time it really pays off is when it's done on a massive multi boxed scale. the old info out there about ninja salvaging and making 15 million a run was when salvage used to be worth 10x what it is now.
TLDR dont waste your time on salvaging normal wrecks |

Its not as brutal as the stories make out. 80% of eve players are fairly docile. Stick to high sec and don't carry 27 plexes in a kestral (weak sauce frigate) and youll be fine.
I sent you a dust mail with my character name. When you ingame I'll send you a mail with some protips about making isk passively to fund other activities. |

1. Pick a cool sounding name, like UberKiller. Now add your country short in front or the back of it, separated by wild letters or symbols. example: GB-=UberKiller=- or UberKillero0o0o0GB 2. Trading, sit still in station and flip orders, let other people haul your stuff. You'll be bored in 30 minutes, but the money is the best. 3. Salvaging, mostly done by people who made the wrecks, there is a corp which buys mission sites to salvage and after big battles there are some vultures in salvage ships with a cloak picking of scabs (profitable ones though). If you're new in EVE, ninja salvaging (scanning down a mission runner and salvage his wrecks without his consent) is one of the best earners. Trading is still better in the long term though. 4. Depends on which ships you mean specifically, but in general they range from Fun ( stealth bombers) to why am I always Primary :'( but still fun (rapier). |

Edit: I recommend the name "Infernal ScareBear" |

Don't forget that while salvaging nets you good profits, it generally takes 30 minutes to do the mission and then you end up an hour salvaging all wrecks if you don't have a ship without a dronebay for salvage drones.

Here's the closest thing to an Eve manual there is :
http://www.isktheguide.com
It's free to download the Pdf.
Keep in mind that Eve is much slower paced than dust and that all skill gains are passive.
Also, you should consider something like EveHQ to help with skill planning and ship fitting.

1. Pilot callsigns works wonders 2. Whatever I do, dont do it. 3. To recover materials that might have been possibly destroyed, repair modules, and make rigs and resell it all. 4. BORING in allaince, most of the time you're assigned to partols and observation and ship tracking/hunting. Now the 1% gets extrondinarly fun becuase you're taking a paper thin ship and you're making all of your opponents soil thier pants as you gank whatever target your group had in mind and they're near powerless to stop it.

The wiki of Eve University is a very good source of all information Eve related: E-Uni Wiki. I recommend even joining E-Uni, there are no obligations and it's a great way to kick-start your Eve career. You'll easily find experienced players willing to help you out or to fleet with you (E-Uni is also running a mentor program for new players), and they offer free skill books which helps a lot in the beginning when you're still low on Isk. |

Myself and a friend have a small faction warfare corp that we set up primarily to provide orbital support for our corp battles. It's very newbie oriented, and we offer free ships that are designed to be flown by someone just getting out of the tutorials. It's called "New Eden Meteorology" so drop an app if that sounds fun, or message the CEO (Kronosys Athonille). He's online a lot more than I am. |

1) You create a character that is Gallente -> Intaki, and name them ("Something") Myshtana. 2) When first starting out? Hisec mining, then missioning. Once your standings are higher, there are better ways. 3) Pathetic. Salvage is generally low profit. 4) Covert ships ROCK, but they are mostly paper thin and take a long time to skill into and fit properly. They are also expensive for someone starting out.

1) To each his own, though the poetry idea can't be bad. Patience will be needed because there are nearly ten years of players that have already picked huge numbers of cool names.
2) Recruitment scamming makes billions at a whack, though there are many other good ways to work someone over for the crafty soul. There are other ways, but they require :effort: and aren't as satisfying. Corporate theft and hostile takeovers are pretty fun and profitable as well.
3) Salvage ships salvage wrecks, as the name implies. Steady but painfully small profits for the most part. Some people do well if they know where to be at the end of a PvP battle.
4) Covert ships are nasty, and a favorite of mine. With skill, there is no part of the universe off limits to the covert ship. With friends they offer surprise buttsex regularly. The covert haulers are a key part of grabbing vast tracts of space from other people, if not the glorious part. Covert ships/gangs are to Eve what snipers are to Dust. Much tear harvesting to be had.
