I use this tactic in World of Tanks and sometimes it works quite well
How it works is like this - the bigger tank rams a smaller tank and will crush it/cause x amount of damage, if both tanks are roughly the same they will cause x amount of damage, depending on HP left 1 tank may die, light tanks ramming bigger tanks tend to cause no damage and actually inflict damage on themselves because its the lighter tank
So i was in a skirmish with a Madrugar with nearly 10k armor and i saw a milita tank out with around 2.5k armor so instead of killing it with my turret i decided to ram it
What happened next is stupid and needs to be fixed
I rammed the hell out of it and it blew up his tank and also took all my shield and armor which is over 10k
A 2.5k armor milita tank somehow kills my 10k armor tank when i rammed into it
How?
With my tank being the obv stronger tank with armor up the ass how did it blow up?
The impact takes what maybe 2-3k armor and just say the explosion takes another 2-3k that means i still have around 3k left for actual undamaged tank yet it still blows up
It makes no sense |

Don't mean to nitpick but... Feedback/Requests... Doesn't belong in General
Anyway, Why are you ramming tanks? Dude, just barely scratching a wall can do 1k damage to you. Why would you run into another EM shielded, armored vehicle using who-knows-what for power and propulsion? |

Because why not
I saw the shield/armor stats and thought il have a go, im not too fussed that i lost a tank but come on i should have whacked it and come out with at least half armor and not blown up |

Collisions are weird right now. Not only does it doe it deal out damage depending on your mass but, it also deals damage to you depending on your mass as well. Now if you receive damage by the other tank on collision I am not sure. I just know that you take a lot of damage when you hit things. So it would make sense that you are taking it from both your mass as well as the object that you hit.
If you think tanks are bad try bumping something in a dropship. When I say bumping I mean bumping so lightly in hover and I take over 5000 EHP damage it is a crazy. |

Every vehicle in this game, with the bizarre exception of the LAV is a powder keg waiting to explode. I have ran LAV's into tanks to blow them up, since they go up with such crazy fireworks. |

You also take damage from the explosion. Seriously . . . ramming a high tech machine that explodes when it gets destroyed, you're going to regret it. Ramming a real world tank, you may break it, but it won't explode. Everything in DUST explodes (well except clones, which seem to just turn to ash).
Also, yeah, physics are off right now. |

I accounted for that
I have a 10k tank at least and i rammed something with like 3k if tht, tank explosions in this game cause like 3k if that
I know LAV explosions cause about 1.5-2k damage
I should have had HP left to spare after smashing a paper tank like that |

Is there anything you won't complain about? We especially complain about how many people want tanks nerfed to irrelevancy, so yeah, we'll continue to complain as well. |

What you didn't account for was the collision mechanic on top of the explosion. Every millisecond you're in contact with something does ~200 damage, so in 1/2 second of contact you've pushed into the 10k range of damage. Lesson from all of this, don't touch anything!
Buildings in New Eden are actually made of microscopic clusters of metal consuming microorganisms that feast on vehicular variants of all kinds. The rocks are actually massive grinders with gaping metal teeth waiting to devour HAV's and DS's that come into contact, they just haven't reskinned them in game yet. |
